6870 or 6950?

i was looking at the XFX versions of the cards as there is just something about xfx that i really like. their 6870 is around £170-£185 and their 6950 is around £200. so is it worth the extra cash? plus the 6950 is 100mhz slower than the 6870 on the GPU clock.
 
XfX are quality wise are pretty good, most of all quite low priced.. worth mentioning the warranty is backed/adopted by OverclockersUK themselves (usually full 2 years).

Please consider the 6950 1gb version if your on a budget or if your on a really tight budget like me, pre-order sapphire 5850.
 
does flashing the 6950 void your warranty?
the 6950 does seem to be sticking its thumb out more. shall have to whats about when i have £200. hopefully someone will have a good deal on :)
 
Clock speed isn't everything, using that logic my old 4870's would be better than my 6950's... that and the 6950's have a lot in them with regards to overclocking

And as for the warranty subject. I would imagine not, as long as you back up your original bios before you flash it then if something goes wrong boot windows with your 2nd bios, then "hotswap" the switch while the PC is on then reflash the original bios to it.
 
well if i do get a 6950 ill defo flash it to a 6970 and will probs use the thread on the forums when doing that. hopefully ill be coupling the 6950 with an XFX XXX edition powersupply too

Make sure you get a Rev.1 version of the GPU with a referance cooler. Oh and probably a 2GB version as the bios you should be flashing to it would be that of a 6970 (which are 2GB only)
