Hey, I am looking to build a new Gaming PC as mine is quite old now and suffering from overheating when i added a gtx460 :p Anyway this is what i have come up with so far.

CPU - Intel Core i5-2500K

Went with the i5 because the price difference between this and the i7 seemed not to be worth it for gaming after looking at reviews.

MoBo - Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (B3 Rev.)

Checked a few of different posts before making this thread and noticed this board being advised quite a bit so went with it.

RAM - G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB

I have no clue when i comes to ram.. It looks good is probably a bad reason to pick it but meh. :p

Case - NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case

Picked it as i like how it looks and want a bigger case my current case is so small and hard to fit stuff in it is annoying.

PSU - Coolermaster GX 750W

Pretty much random PSU..

HDD - Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II

Seen this advised to some people on here too.

(Have Win7 64-bit, keyboard, mouse etc. from this PC.)

This is what i am currently looking at. I have a GTX 460 that i can take from my current machine. At the min Total is £596.52 Budget is ~£700 would prefer to spend that bit more for performance.

Seeing as my machine is dieing from overheating when the case is closed, any CPU/other fans recommended?

Thank you for reading and for any advice you can give me :)

looks pretty good to be honest. just a couple of suggestions:

RAM: with a gaming PC you only need 4GB of RAM. the other 4GB just wont get used. this will be perfect for you: OCZ platinum 4GB

hard drive: cheaper hard drive thats better too: 1TB seagate barracuda

PSU: the PSU is overkill unless you want to use two graphics cards (in which case you will need to change the motherboard to the Asus P8P67 pro). depending on your choice of single graphics card, you will want 500-650W.

i assume you are nicking the DVD drive from the old computer, and havent just forgotten about it. if not a new one is incredibly cheap (£14)

not got much idea about CPU coolers or cases, so will leave that for someone else to advise you on

Only other suggestion is get an SSD.

Small one for boot drive (40gb is plenty). It's the most 'noticeable in real world performance' upgrade you can possibly make and should be the top of any recommendation list for that build.

Good idea if you've got money spare.... be best if you could push it to 60gb for a few applications, games, micro office etc as well as a boot drive

only go for the P8P67 pro motherboard if you plan to use two graphics cards in SLI or crossfire at some point. otherwise its £40 waisted (thats the only difference really)

Understood. I think i will change it back as i doubt i will get *Another graphics card any reasonable time soon and 40 pound is better in my pocket :)

Edit: after checking the price difference is 10 pound.

Worth spending that extra £10 and especially if your going with a 750w psu... leaving plenty of option for sli in the future.... with the way prices are going on gfx cards I believe its the best option.... Say in the futre when your comp cant handle the latest and greatest all you'll need to do is throw in an other 460 which should be a lot cheaper than buying the latest card and hopefully should be fine for an extra few years!

Thats my opinion anyway :D

Sounds about right John101, even the extra 40 pound could save me more later. Will have a think about it all now and place an order.

Thanks for everyone's input much appreciated & have a good day! :)

I decided to pay the extra and get the Pro. Also paid the extra for the ram because I will be HD video editing. SSD's do make sooo much difference! Well worth it for Windows and essential apps.

Interesting.. Just knocked this build down to 550 with that bundle instead of the PRO version which is even more of a difference. about 60 pound.

Going to go for the Bundle - Thanks for that was going to order, glad i checked on forums :)

Then you may as well, if you read around some of the reviews, some people have got the cpu to like 4-42 Ghz on the standard heatsink, but I guess you could go much higher with an aftermarket cooler.
