Battlefield 3 is it gonna be another bad console port?

Hello all

I have noticed recently that a lot of PC games are now being ported from the console version to PC, now correct me if im wrong but in the old days this used to be the other way around.

As consoles are more limited on graphincs memory etc, when they come to pc generally the graphics will not be up to the full spec of a PC's.

Now i have been playing pretty much all the BF series since 1942 and love these games do we think that BF3 is gonna be a bad console piort and not use the full potential of our specced up PC's.

I have just built a new Sandybridge I7 system in anticipation of this new version based on the vids i have seen so far of the game, have i wasted my wonga?

Dice have been working on this for years, way before BC2 came out.

For once its being made for the PC first, then being ported over to consoles, so everyone better buy it to show some respect.

Indeed. This won't be a console port.

It's being developed on the PC first with full 64 player support. The console won't cope with anywhere near this amount.

They never said they were making it for PC first though, they stated they had another team working on it just for the PC.

But I do believe DICE are giving it their all in BF3.

so one whole team for PC (just like Dice) and they still got it wrong...

i know what you're saying... i just dont think we should get our hopes to high. Dice are here to make money (like Crytek) and most of that comes from those console game sales.

I think you may have wasted a bit wonga going for an i7 sandybridge as its probably not quite necessary. That being said I am sure you will be nice and happy with how shiny BF3 looks and plays

I reckon it will be a port. I also have very little faith in it being brilliant and I doubt it will give me the "WOW" factor that BF2 gave me.
Also I despise Dice's game engines. They feel clunky and I feel like an Autobot running around the maps, all I'm missing is the ability to turn myself into a vehicle.

That being said I loved BF1942, Vietnam, BF2 and 2142.

You read or watched any of the info round BF3 or is this just your speculation?

BF3 is developed for the PC - stated, confirmed, reconfirmed. New physics and graphics engine, most detailed character models and animations ever designed.

In game videos look insanely good graphically.

Console versions will be ports.

Fingers crossed they're not lying about any of this, and as long as they don't change the BF2 formula it should be a massive hit.

Look guys, cryteck said the exact same thing about crysis 2 and look how crap that turned out to be. seriously i have learned not to believe these developers and publishers.

if its not a console port then great i will buy a copy for me and a mate but if it is a crap console port then at least i wont be hyped up and gutted about it as some who are 100% certain it wont be a console port.

my expectations on this game is low in other words

why is it flamebait? i havent even mentioned Cyrisis 2 (i do own it though)

Was hoping it would be a PC Port not a console translation so i can use my new systems to its full potential

Am I the only person who thinks Crysis 2 is visually stunning? People just seem to be crying because they had hyper inflated expectations of photo-real visuals.

Console port or not (the fact that anything is a port is irrelevant), the trailers for BF3 look majestic, and I can't wait to play it.

It amuses me how elitist some people in this subforum are, when Console Port is used as a automatically derogatory term, and anything graphically below actual reality is just pathetic - get over your obsessions with graphics and console vs PC arguments, and you'll find there are tons of games that are great simply because they're fun - regardless of what platform you choose to play them on.
