why do a lot of crazy people want autographs from famous people so badly? its ridiculous how many are just tripping over themself to get a signature on a piece of paper from actors and musicians. when you watch these people they are going through an absolute emotional agony just to get the damn signature. i really don't get it. what is the value of that in that at all?

Autographs can hold value that other crazy folk are willing to pay. That's the only reasonable explanation I can provide.

However, whilst we're on the subject; What the hell is with some girls crying like death whenever they meet a famous person? It's actually hilariously scary how someone can be so fixated with fame to the point of a complete breakdown!

I actually hate that, and crying when boy bands split up... And committing suicide! the ****?

Rich Hall and Vladimir Smicer are the only two of minor note that I have - never been bothered with them.

I think autographs don't hold as much weight as they used to. Celebrities are no longer untouchable and unreachable because of the likes of Facebook and Twitter. Now they communicate with the fans individually and directly. Time was when it was impressive to have spoken to or know a celebrity, now it's hardly worth note.

Of course, autographs for people like The Beatles/Hendrix are a different matter and still highly worth mentioning.

I have rolf harris's with his rolf-a-ru on (cartoon kangaroo with rolfs head sketched) and Jim Bowen (bulls eye)

Keep em for sentimental reasons as got when I was a kid but never made any effort to collect more. Don't really understand those who obsess over them but appreciate they can be worth money. Reminds me of the Alan Partridge crazy fan episode.

I could have got a few signatures from Musicians I like and one of the guys from BOB.

Albeit not world famous musicians but decent enough that I could sell it on Ebay and I'd make a bit of cash but I feel I would be lowering myself as a human asking another person to sign a bit of paper. It just looks desperate in my eyes.

I prefer to get a picture with them if I see a famous person. Don't see them point in an autograph. Unless you're trying to forge a cheque from them :D

I got the entire Aberdeen FC first team's autograph in 1983 after they wone the European Cup Winners Cup club under Sir Alex Ferguson. They were staying at the Old Course in St Andrews, having just won it.

That was an awesome day.

As a guess it's because it's a way to feel closer to the celebrity - perhaps not quite sharing in their life but you could feel they've acknowledged your existence, subtly elevating yourself? Then again there's the monetary value or alternatively acknowledging that this is someone you respect and admire.

I have got two autographs from people that I've met:

Yoshinori Kitase, Director of Final Fantasy VII

and

Gemma Atkinson, from Hollyoaks :p

Well done on having what are perhaps the most disparate autographs so far. :p

This is the only one I own.... bonus point for t-shirt too :p?

The only one i have is Rick Yune, my mum got it for me when he visited the school she works at, as Simon Webb is an ex pupil and Rick Yune happened to be with him at the time.

I have a painting of the Seven Dwarfs that serial killer John Wayne Gacy done in prison, and it does have his john handcock on the back next to the painting info.

I've never really understood the appeal of autographs. They're just someones signature on a piece of paper/random collectible.

The lengths some people go to is insane, the only reason i'd go out on a limb to get an autograph would be to increase the valuable of a collectible. Certainly wouldn't be standing a few hours in a queue to get someone to write theri name though.

if i see a famous person.. any maybe people should try this. I ignore them and let them get on with life. If i come across them in a resteraunt i wont go over but if they ealk past me i will just hi.

Must be a pain in the ass. Anyone seen that youtube vid of Beckham in a fast food resteraunt? Poor sod stood there for 30 mins while people kept on grabbing him and taking photos.

Hes such a legend that he stood there and let people put there arms around him for photos.

I dont care enough about celebrities to want to disrupt them.

I may actually cry if my favourite band ever split up.
Normally i am NEVER sentimental, although there is one Simpsons episode which came close to making me blub :(

I always get autographs for resale value. Nothibg else
