Saddles, are one of those things you just need to keep trying, i am pretty happy with my current one i managed to go from Manchester to Blackpool sat on it all day and only near the end was it starting to get uncomfortable.

Had my ride this morning, flat tyre again, and ran out of patches. Also had a nasty off cut down the side of my leg, ohh well, if your not falling off now and again your not riding hard enough i always say.

Just a little 81 mile spin on one of my MTB's today. Here's how it's currently configured, sure to raise some questions :p

Is this going to be the bike you are using for the Great Divide thingy?

Nice vids, Vid 4 though you have it titled as Skills area, thats the Freeride area. Skills area is just things like dropoffs and varying heights and other such skill related stuff.

We should get a few of us going in the summer.

I titled it 'Skills' as a subtle emphasis on a severe lack of skills :o :p

The free ride part (vid 3) is at the end of the main trail before coming back to the bike shop, is it not? The small skills area (vid 4) is at the start of the trail, at least that's what others were calling it.

Need new brakes, down to two

Deore m595 or Formula Oro K24

Can't decide, 595 won the testing in what mountain bike and are meant to be powerful, but the k24s seem to get nothing but good reviews as well.

So just wondering what others would go for? anyone used both?

Deore for me, I like the shimano braking systems I've got the m775 and I love them..

Now my time for a question, if a wheelset says 135 for the rear would that in my on one 456 steel? Still trying to find wheels bit confusing though.
On a related note, my lbs has some mavic EX823 rims with the spoke cups and are willing to let me have them for 50 each, but probably overkill for my HT.

Out of those I would take the Formulas.

135mm is the width of the hub and yes your frame will be 135mm as that is pretty much the standard and 150mm for DH bikes. There is a recently new size of hub coming into play now though of 142mm as well.

the 456 steel is 135mm yes

but its 135mm x 10 with 10 being the axle diameter

i 'think' you can also get 135 x 12

V2 caliper is lighter than the M4, but the V2 vented disc is a fair bit heavier, M4 also has more modulation which i always find feels better on the rear.

Also looked into the Formula Ones and R1 but the lack of good customer service really lets them down, plus i like to go britich where ever possible.

Chris: V2 is the most powerful.

Which is the more powerful, the V2 or the M4?

V2

Surely if they are both going to have the Tech lever there will be very little difference in the modulation.

You don't need to use the vented disc. The Normal V2 rotor is only slightly heavier than the M4/Mini/X2 rotor.

I found the M4 hard to lock up at times, no such problem with the V2. It's stupidly powerful. Modulation is just as good as the M4.

So you would go with v2 all round but smaller disc on the rear?

Loving the matchmaker bracket as well, so only one clamp for my SRAM X0 and the Hopes.

Even though the Formula brakes are nice and just dont think there worth the extra.
