so im thinking about a new motor next year. i was something rare with a 0-62 in under 7 sec.

been thinking about a couple of things,

honda integra DC5
Seat leon cupra R (old shape)
mazda 3 mps
M3 (probly be e46) *edit* scrap this idea, not realistic tbh :/
RX7, maybe..
evo 7
supra
volvo V70 R (this would be pushing it for 8k)

new to the list

350z
clio 172/182

i want something cheapish to tax too, nothing over £260 a year. i almost bought a vectra vxr until i seen the £460 a year road tax tag, so no rx-8's either :P

I'd take the M3 E46 out of the list, along with the EVO 7, Supra and Volvo V70R. They might be amongst the £8k bracket now but there running costs/maintenance aren't. Even with that said you'd be lucky to find decent well looked after/maintained examples.

I'd personally look at the DC5 or a EP3 Civic if you're into all that VTEC 'y0 stuff.

i like you guys thinking, im a member of driftworks and most of them said the complete oposite. "why u worried about road tax and running costs if your looking for a car of this pedigree, you should be looking at horsepower toque"

that was about 3 months ago lol.

i am keen on the dc5. its unique, honda and yea Vtec, 8500rpm!!

this will be purely a weekend car.

right im buying a dc5 you twisted my arm! its settled. if i dont lose my job. im on the hunt for one come summer.

also offtopic, who is the best insurer to insure 2 cars under 1 name?

clio's are too small for me :/ im not massivly fat but i am and XL lol :P

Your talking to a 19 stone guy whos 6'4" and drives a 172. Your argument is invalid :)

And also, I dont get the whole 'I cant bear to spend £400+ on tax' yet you will happily dump £8k on a car in the first place? If its £200 a year more to tax than the ~£200 cars, spend £7k on one and in 5 years you will still be better off...

Corvette.

You could swing this for 8k. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-Corvette-383-6-2L-6-sp-Manual-Coupe-/370384452544

£215 a year to tax :p

You ain't gonna park next to another one, either - unless it's at a show!

Not much else is going to leave such a big smile on your face, or those of passers-by, either.....
