Xbox 360 Vs Playstation 3

Pros and Cons...?

I have just discovered the world of Xbox 360 LIVE and loving it, but I was told by my mate I'm stupid if I renew my Gold account after the month trial as PS3 users get free online gaming.

What are the Pros and Cons about them both?
 
Xbox 360:

Pros: Xbox is only 2 syllables so is quicker to say than the 3 syllable playstation

Cons: Xbox 360 is is 5 syllables so is longer to say than Playstation 3!

When it comes down to it. They are almost the same. It depends on your personal preference of games. Besides, most games people play are on all platforms. But most importantly, which one your friends play on.
 
Xbox is or was better for online gaming and the ps3 is superior in graphics.
I know for a while the Xbox was miles ahead of PlayStation when it came to mp etc but i think Sony has caught up with Microsoft.
I have been playing consoles all my life from Sega Saturn,mega drive ps1,ps2,Xbox 360,ps3 all great machines.
I have seen the light now tho and switched to PC gaming,way too many whiney little kids on Xbox live and psn!.
 
My next door neighbours 3 year old calls his daddys 360 an eggbox and his playstation a space station, the PS3 sounds cooler and wins!!
For a more sensible answer search this forum, decide if you want blu ray, XBL and what games you like, or the best thing to do is own both.
 
Play it safe and buy both then you get all the exclusives, egg boxes go for next to nothing these days ;)
 
id say buying now, go for ps3 as theres a large amount of exclusives coming including uncharted 3, infamous 2 and resistance 3! then you have a good back catalogue if u like to follow story and so on! however resistance 1 and 2 were a bit poor!

infamous 1, uncharted 1 and 2, god of war 3, heavy rain, little big planet 1 and 2 are all great to get you started

the ps3 also has a bluray player if your into movies and have a nice 1080p hd tv!

the controllers come rechargable so you dont have to buy any extras and online play is free ( however playstation plus is available where u pay about £40 for a year (same as xbox) and you get loads of games, betas and exclusive demos etc)

i will admit xbox seems to have a better online functionality with cross game party systems etc, however with he release of Portal 2, the ps3 is getting some Steam support and you will be able to play that game across platform between the ps3 and pc/mac, which is kind of cool!!

but yea other than those things they are very similar... get both :D

I'm kinda serious too. The PS3 has much better single player games, the 360 has better multiplayer and cross platform games, and much better online.
 
I got both, My lad plays games on the xbox 360 in his bedroom as thats what his mates have. The PS3 is mainly a media centre in the living room blu-ray player and streaming.

My own opinion I prefer the Xbox 360 for media playing as its a lot quieter and better menu browsing than the PS3 for streaming but Xbox has no blu-ray, I could rip the blu-rays to the NAS although a bit naughty.. But PS3 for games as they look a lot better grafix wise.

I have the both machines opposite to the way I would like but my lad is happy as he gets a xbox360 and a 32" LCD in his room to play games on. I then get a backup place to watch films and relax when the living room is busy.

Oh the wife prefers the PS3 easier to dust all smooth and shiney.

Yea single player exclusives are much better on ps3, but agree with you, if you want to play things like black ops.. sigh.. then it would be better on 360! halo reach was ok if you havent played any of the others, if you have it doesnt offer much new but a lot of people love it!

care to give us some evidence with that statement?

technically the xbox actually has the more powerful gpu. proof in the pudding with crysis which has to run in a lower resolution.

it really goes down to what games you want to play and what your mates play? live is fantastic when you have a group of mates to play with.

as above, the ports tend to be better on xbox (but crysis on pc all the way ;) ), but i always think the ps3's exclusive games look a lot better than exclusives on the xbox

My comment was tongue in cheek but it is accurate to a degree.

Put simply, the 360 is a superior multiplayer console, and the PS3 is a superior single player console.

Buy whichever sounds best for you based on that.
