Was looking at this for a three night stay over Easter, http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/oldengland/. Pricey but looks as though it fits the bill.

It's got to be overlooking a lake, taking the missus up that part of the world for a nice break, she's had a tough time lately.

Welcome to hear any other suggestions, I've never been further north than Stoke before.

Well Mr Bond i am sure you and Miss Money Penny will enjoy your stay at a hotel next to a lake in the lake district were there are lakes but nobody mentions them. :D

Oh **** I've booked that hotel on that recommendation, missus is not going to be happy.

I think that is the least of your concerns tbh.

The hotel is in a bad state of disrepair. It is a shame to pay so much and get a hotel that should have had critical maintenance years ago. Staff that are unprofessional and can hardly speak English is another huge distraction.

As we are not big eaters we only need two courses. Dinner menu was five courses. We were accommodated fine but no definite cost was given, so at the end of the meal we were a little shocked at the price for two courses given the amount of food on the plate. I think prices should be stated on the menu to avoid this problem

No elevator.

Cleaning - Bath tub was not clean on the day I checked in so I couldn't bath. Next day the cleaning had not been done. Hand towels were not changed even if they had been wet.

The set price on the menu. I think people would eat there first night only. The rooms had no air conditioning. Dirty balcony.

Lack of information by Reception staff regarding help with luggage and not being informed that a service lift was available bearing in mind that our room was up several flights of stairs and no porters offered or in evidence.

The shower wasnt very good and wasn,t very clean windows needed cleaning doors needed a coat of paintThe part of the Hotel we were in was very tired.

The decor was very 'tired' looking. The shower flooded the bathroom and when I informed the staff got a brisk apology.

Couldn't get channel 4 on tv !

House is a little need of renovation. Unfortunately, no pool, only a Jacuzzi.

With any luck his Mrs. has never been further north than Stoke, so she may not notice*

*unless she tries to talk to the locals

Err, what? You booked a hotel without even saying where it is in relation to local attractions/walks/sights etc?

It's not as if there won't be demand at that time. Cancelling now won't be an issue so I don't see what the problem is?
