Who's the fittest on OcUK SA?

I doubt Ironman fitness is anything like the norm. I would be dead after a 90 minute stop/start game of football, but I can swim/bike/run long distances and recover incredibly quick. It's why "fitness" isn't a real metric you can measure.

Rest days are for wimps.

Oh really? Best tell your buddy he's a wimp then, because [DOD]Aprilla thinks they're very important :p.

I meant sustained CV ability yes, sorry for the vagueness! Gilly, did you ever compete in running at any level? As a 4-minute mile sounds pretty astounding to me!

I was just wondering how fit some of us on here are.
We've got some strong guys on here, would be interesting to see who is impressive in the fitness realm.

I would say 'I got the t-shirt' but this is far more impressive :D

*I'll stop when I'm done being proud of myself lol

I used to be fit and i also used to have a body to match!

But the gym got too expensive, with the car park becoming a real problem due to the M&S store built next door. Gave up with it and left!, Gym prices are a rip off :(

Looking at some of the stats of you guys, wow, getting fitter and loving it.

I like to cycle, don't have the road kit but cycle with my mtb with semi slicks, not great for speed but works me hard, gets me places on/off road, I cant swim for jack, don't have the technique or size (5 foot 7), don't mind running but it bores me doing it on my own. 3-4 miles and I am done. Easily cycle 10-15 miles a day but few road rage incidents with HGV/vans has got me worried, makes me paranoid always wear my helmet and follow highway code and I cant stationary cycle bores me to tears.

There's only 1 gym where you live? You can't have been that motivated to go if little things like that stop you going completely.

Riding about 100 - 200 miles a week at the moment in preparation for sportives, but will be at my fittest in June after a couple of months of the TT season.

having just seen that trophy i'm almost tempted to make my next challenge an iron man event, that is the sweetest trophy ever.

I reckon I could do a marathon not interested in doing so though. MMA requires full body fitness and good cardio so I would say I am pretty fit, not as fit now as I would be the day before a fight but just ticking over.

Yeah, I was actually a long distance road runner. Won some decent local awards and was in the local paper a few times before I tore my hamstring stumbling off a high kurb when out training.

I had no play on it after that. Took me a long time to be able to do much at all. I still have trouble with it now, I take 30 mins longer than the rest of the lads to warm up and stretch off :o

Was a good 15 years ago now :(

Clipsey do all finishers get that trophy?

No, they are a separate company that once you complete an Ironman you can purchase one. However, I was lucky in the fact that they were giving loads out to the finishers in the top third :D right place right time, bagged myself a sweet (expensive trophy), all about promotion at this point!
As emetic mentioned you can buy it (only if you have completed an Ironman) but not really at that price  (around the event I think it was closer to $300). When the Ironman event rolls into town, along with it comes loads of official merchandise booths - souvenirs of your accomplishment if you will. I bought a finishers hoodie, stickers, official photographs and coffee cup placemats :p etc

I have to also mention that the day I did my Ironman it was 97degrees!! Ruined it for so many people, became unbearable at points!

Edit** The finishers medal changes place to place depending on where you complete it, same with the finishers t-shirt and other stuff you receive.
