Tiny bit over but if you've already got a decent CPU cooler you could remove that and spend a bit more on a better motherboard or something.

the only thing about the UD3 is second PCIe slot is limited to x4.

The ASUS has 2 @ x8 where as the Gigabyte has x16/x4

I don't really know whats better for crossfire, I just assumed if they were the same that it would be better, but please correct me if I'm talking rubbish :D lol

Yep you're right 2 @ x8 is preferable.

Here's some stuff that (I think) is compatible with your cooler but I'm quite new to this stuff so you'd wanna check with someone with a bit more knowledge to make sure :)

that g45 looks like great value
@ sk82jack: they're the same size, different speed, as coupe said above 8+8 > 16+4

@Pohly: socket 1155 and 1156 use the same mounting, so your cooler will be fine.

as for comparative speed, I have a 5850, and its a fair bit faster with my new 2500k at stock than my old q6600 G0 at 3.4ghz was, for me the upgrade was definitely worth it!

OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK) [OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK] £36.98

you sure bottlnecking? i have a 5850 running with an athlon x2 and i dont get bottlenecking

yeh quite sure because i only saw about 4fps more in most games coming from a 4850. the 5850 is ment to be double the power so you would expect about 20-30 fps

plus i later download gpuz and saw the gpu only hit a max of 40% load in warhead yet the cpu was hitting 100% all the time

If your cooler doesn't fit, look at a Thermaltake Frio. Excellent cooling if a little loud on max fan. £43 so you will be £13 over budget though.
