Why buy a convertible then keep the roof up ALL THE TIME?!

I don't

I wouldnt buy one without it

Why do you find it incomprehensible that people drive with their roof up on days like today?

Just the same as I find it bizarre that having air-con in a car where you won't even notice the difference (because you'll have the roof down..). Heaters, yes, air-con? Bizarre.

I beleive thats already been covered in this thread

You often dont want the roof down on a long Motorway journey - in which case, AC is invaluable. It's also useful in the winter for clearing the screen, or providing a blast of cool air on a day when you DO have the roof down.

I believe you've missed out the rest of my post.

Thats because you edited your post, I replied to what was there.

Have you ever actually driven a convertible?

Been a passenger in a few, from escort cabriolets to M3s. Only notice air-con when roof up. Which is why it is bizarre.

And the roof would normally be up if you have 100 miles to drive up the M6, for example.

Or - on very rare occasions - when its very hot. On holiday last year I had the roof up at times despite absolutely stunning weather simply because it was just too hot to have it down constantly and I needed a refreshing cool-down.

'twas fine driving to Bath from London and back again with the roof down.

So why are you complaining about people driving with their roof up today, if you do the same yourself?

I just dont think you can beat sweating and not being able to see out of a nicely condensated convertible with the roof up and no air con. Its what makes all the graft worth while.

Can you not read?

My first post in this thread:

They are all wrong, and anyone driving a convertible today with the roof up, unless they were travelling at speed on a motorway or dual carriageway, fails hard.

I have been completely clear from the very beginning that there are occasions when it might be sunny and you might have the roof up.

No you haven't, you merely stated about speed, and even criticised those that have their roof up on a day like today (ergo, a sunny day) are "doing it wrong".

You just stated you put the roof up on a sunny day.. are you "doing it wrong"?

This is properly tedious.

I put the roof up on a sunny day.. if I am doing 80mph on the Motorway, yes. I was clear about that from the beginning?

I would probably have the roof up on the motorway. I say probably because I very rarely take the car on the motorway, if there is an alternate route I can take via A and B roads then I always will (even if it is much longer). :D

Luckily I have access to a company car if needed for work and the GF's car if we need to do a long mundane journey.
