Feeding children meat is child abuse

Im sure people had the same reaction they started putting FAGS KILL and pictures of dead things on fag packets.

Fags actually do kill... and there's only really one type.

Meat isn't unhealthy. Maybe after deep frying said meat... or covering it in high calorie sauce and sticking it between a bun and cheese it's unhealthy. But meat itself is not.

Still, any publicity is good publicity

But it's really not... if anything it damages the vegetarian message and peta's reputation.

I <3 Aberdeen Angus steak. To deprive any child of such a luxury would be cruelty in itself. lol! My Nephew likes his Steak too (he's 11).

err yes they are, they even want to stop people owning pets....

Are you sure entertainment doesnt just mean horrible stuff like performing monkeys, bears, and circuses?

No pets is a bit weird!

I can understand no exotic pets that should remain in the wild, we have no right whatsoever to go out and kidnap wild species to be kept as pets, but surely they are not saying cats and dogs shouldn't be kept? Are they?!

EDIT, I am VERY VERY pro animal rights, which is why I only eat beef, HOWEVER, a cattle which has been free to roam in a field in the fresh air, eating natural grass (as most Aberdeen Angus is), then getting a quick bolt in the head for a painless death is ok by me, as long as the animal had a happy life. Also leather is a by product of the animal, so it makes sense to use the entire carcass surely? otherwise its pretty disrespectful to be throwing bits away.

I didn't know PETA protested against 'Seal Clubbing' in World of Warcraft.

There are no words for their stupidity... :/

yep.

basically they want o stop domestic animals breeding/being bred and to slowly be removed by natural causes, or if they were not pets but a nice pretty wild animal it would be called, driven to extinction.

For an example of how much bull***they spout here is apprently the best case scenario for all dogs/cats

This is a best-case scenario. Millions of dogs spend their lives outdoors on heavy chains in all weather extremes or are kept locked up in tiny chain-link pens from which they can only watch the world go by.

if you read that and accepted it as truth you'd probably punch every dog walker you saw in the face for being scum.

Given we are descendants of our great ancestors who lived on nothing but meat, im not going to quit eating my Aberdeen Angus steak anytime soon and neither should the kids :)

I think you'll find in all the paleontological evidence, that our earliest ancestors and all through the line down to today, had jaws and teeth that were suited to eating a variety of foods and not just meat which differentiated them from the then contemporary apes.

Lysander what is this thing about pancakes? Im serious here.. Am I missing something?

I started a thread saying it was pointless and unfunny how the mods always included the option 'pancake' in a GD poll. They then thought it was funny to change my username, avatar and rank to something pancake-related. I did the signature because my username wasn't actually Pancakes. They put my old username back yesterday and removed the bespoke avatar. The rank'll probably stay but I don't mind.

anaemia anyone? Also what ****ing idiot puts a women with a double chin as the spokes person for PETA for bbc news, well done mimi bekhechi for telling us, with her double chin, that being overweight is bad...

Firstly...

Fat IS NOT bad for you. I'm not even talking about moderation, even eating what some would see as a lot of fat is still not bad for you. You can lose serious amounts of weight eating a diet that's high in fat, even saturated fat :eek: and not "clog your arteries". Trans-fats, sure, but it's not hard to avoid those (without googling I can't even think of a source that I can buy...).

Now that's out of the way, some other issues ;)

- good luck getting enough calories and a well rounded nutrient profile into a child on a veggie diet. To the point of zero deficiencies. It's possible, but hard. Granted there are lots of things wrong with a lot of the "normal" diets fed to children, but going to this extreme isn't the answer (kudos to the chap who is a vegetarian who feeds his children meat until they can make the choice for themselves). I'm fairly sure this was in the news at some point actually...children being fed cheese on toast at nursery because of low energy or something
- why are they putting an overweight woman on TV to tell people that not being a vegetarian leads to obesity. ****ing smart :p
- it's a shame they didn't just say "junk food", that would be a message a lot of people could get behind
- paleolithic diets were actually fairly high in meat in terms of % of what's eaten, what they didn't have was a lot of refined gains, sugar, etc. There is some interesting reading to be done about the diets of modern hunter gatherer groups and their associated health. Also as someone mentioned (Tefal??), another problem is that we aren't designed to constantly be in a fed state. Things like intermittent fasting take advantage of this.
- I'm not sure why I have laid this post out like this now, but there you go :)

Actually you're not really designed to eat every day, more like ever other+ like most animals.

We're actually suffering because we eat so often/regularly now have a read on the thrifty gene

If you didn't eat regularly each day, your blood-sugar would yoyo, causing glucose intolerance over time and eventually you would contract type 2 diabetes.

PETA being idiots again, well isn’t that surprising. Why not stop feeding kids all together, now that would be cruel.

Whatever the opposite of a vegetarian is i'm it, Meat, animal fats, eggs and unpas'ed cheese for the most part with good amounts of fibrous veg. No double chin here like the ****ing ugly bitch in the opening post!

When are these veggies going to realise that we need animal proteins and fats to thrive, why do they think humans were given the mechanisms to produce hydrochloric acid and bile which specifically breakdown animal proteins and emulsify fats for digestion? Whereas cellulose from plant foods is almost impossible for us to breakdown and properly digest.

Animals were put here to be eaten by humans, not to be worshipped.

I do worship my cat though, but then he's not very edible.:p

Penn & Teller did a good episode of their Bull**** series on PETA.
Besides Tefal's input above, a couple of their top members are also diabetics who take drugs that were tested on animals.
When asked about their hypocrisy they claimed they needed the cure because somebody needs to speak up for the animals.
