Star Wars: The Sequel

I must admit to having a liking for the prequel films. Admittedly there is a shed-load of excrement in TPM but it is toned down in AOTC and ROTS, but what does it for me is the complexity of the story line. The whole rise of the Sith, epic manipulation of the Jedi and the entire Republic by one man, the interactions etc are great and totally trump the Original Trilogy. After all, at that point the Emperor has almost total control and it really just revolves around a civil war between a small group of fighters (at least as shown in the film) and the might of the Empire. Don't get me wrong, the original films are amazing but I do love the depth of the originals. Better to see it all as a 6 six film series showing the Fall and Redemption of Anakin Skywalker, I suppose. Oh, and I wish JJB a horrifying demise.

Jar Jar really made it for me. If they make 7-9 I hope he's in it.

I just do not care. We live ina time where Hollywood remakes or adds sequals to every film they can in an effort to make money. They would join the long, long list of crap sequals that should never have been made, with nerds refusing to accept their existence, and haters using them as examples for their argument.

Kyle Katarn is basically after the sequel, depends how you look at it from either a book or a games point of view.

What about films based on the old republic era?

Allows much more freedom and has a good story depth.

EDIT: They could follow either Darth Bane or Malak/Revan.

There's no way you could plausibly condense the New Jedi Order series into a trilogy, however, I would love to see the fall of Coruscant to the Vong rendered on the big screen. One can but dream. :D

I agree with some on here the Jedi Academy trilogy would be a decent place for the films to continue, until I read the Vong set or the Legacy of the force stuff.

I've seen Lucas say that the plan was for 9 and the whole thing was lukes story. Hence the reason why luke is the only character in the expanded universe that is off limits to kill. Only Lucas decides how and why Luke dies. Han Leia and the rest are fair game for the writers once passed by Lucas as a fitting end.

I'd like them to finish lukes story and how he rebuilds the jedi and becomes the most powerful jedi in history but as long as lucas stays away.

Even when he has poked his nose into the expanded universe he's made almighty **** ups. Like Han and Leias youngest son. Despite years of awesome writing by various writers Lucas decided he had to die, because he didn't like the name clash with his upcoming prequels. The expanded universe had to lose one of the best characters.

I've read just about everything in the expanded universe post ROTJ and nearly everything pre star wars and 70% of it is better than anything Lucas has touched.

I think this is one of the biggest myths regarding Starwars, everytime Lucas has been asked he says it was originally one big script but realising he couldnt fit the story into one movie he took a portion of the story and made New Hope, the rest he chopped into acts.

which doesn't make sense when you read the radical changes in the plot that happened in each move as it was written.

if it had been all one story such changes wouldn't have made sense, and the final story would be nothing like the full "original".
