Just formatted my PC after over 8 months! I had lots of **** installed and my windows drive was almost full (being only ~73GB).

Anyway, feels almost like a new PC now! I have noticed most the software I had installed was all out of date so I am updating everything.

I installed:

Win 7 Ultimate 64
Windows Updates
Avast
Firefox
K-Lite Kodecs (inc Media Player Classic)
MSN
Skype
7-Zip
Winrar
Office 2010

I think that's most of it so far.

(1) What 5 programs do you highly recommend that I do not have listed above?

(2) Is Nero Burning Rom still fairly decent or is there something else I should look to get/buy?

(3) What Firefox addons do you recommend? (I quite like the look of the new firefox)

Opera.
Avast.
Ad Aware.
CCleaner.
ITunes.
VLC Media player.

You just reminded me I also have Itunes installed, need it really since I have an Iphone! Will look into the others.

Opera
MPC-HC
AntiVir
Foobar2000
Malwarbytes

Thanks will look into those.

VLC Media Player
CCleaner

Have a search for the firefox add on thread. There are some great ones in there.

Thanks, didn't see that thread it must have gone off the first page. Will definately go through it tonight, I really like the new firefox but it needs some tweaking!

I ditched Nero a long time ago as it had become total bloatware. Get yourself Ashampoo burning studio which is much better ;)

Hmmm, never even heard of ashampoo!

I would only ever install nero burning rom, not all the other **** that it comes with.

Photoshop
Media Player Classic Home Cinema x64
CCleaner
Rainmeter
Spotify

I use Imgburn for Ashampoo Free for disks

I only use firefox for the Video Download Helper add-on, chrome for everything else, even though that add-on is probably available for chrome i'm too lazy :D

Even with doing a custom install I still found Nero was getting way too bloated for what it is. Started using Ashampoo burning studio and haven't looked back :)

Sumatra Portable
Foobar2000 Portable
VirtualDubPortable
VLCPortable
PuTTYPortable
IronPortable

Granted that's 6, but I don't really like using IE...

There is already a sticky with loads of useful freeware. Most of which has been mentioned in here again.

Go find the Firefox addon thread too. No point repeating yourselves!

Defraggler. I can't tell you if it's better than other Defrag utilities but it looks awesome and takes a long time so I assume it's the best.
Foobar and VLC for all my media needs as well without having to mess around with too many programs.

This doesn't have to be freeware.

Plus there are literally thousands in that thread, so if ppl just state there top few it would save me (and possibly others) a lot of time! :)
