The above monitor is on a well known rainforest site right now for £198, it seems like quite the bargain, any ideas if this monitor is any good?

First 1080p 120Hz monitor I've seen sub £200.

I'd like to know too. I was going for the Asus, but just noticed this is £100 cheaper. Just as well the Asus went out of stock.

"LG W2363D has a fancy design with a light frame that is not really of any practical use. The frame is made from glossy plastic and the stand allows the user to tilt the screen.

The picture quality is not very accurate with the out-of-box results but after our calibration we managed to improve picture accuracy a lot. Colors became fairly accurate but color gradation was never perfect. We experienced no serious problems with backlight bleeding on W2363D and this is positive when the many reports of backlight bleeding on Samsung 2233rz are considered. Black levels were not very low, though, but shadow detailing was fair. I'm sure a lot of gamers will appreciate the 1920x1080 resolution, too.

The important aspects for gamers that this monitor is targeted at, is response time and input lag. And W2363D did very well. 120 Hz monitors are far superior to the older non-120 Hz monitors in terms of smooth motion. W2363D also has a very low level of trailing and blurring on fast motion and we saw no overdrive trailing. With the Thru-mode on we experienced no input lag, and this is very positive.

W2363D is priced lower than Alienware AW2310 that has the same size and resolution. Even though Alienware AW2310 had more accurate picture settings, better color reproduction/gradation, and a marginally better black level the gaming experience is not much different. W2363D actually has the edge here and at a lower price I feel that it deserves our Highly recommended Award based on the gaming performance. It's also added to our recommendations list here."

Not to take anything away from this but I had been dropping huge hints about the value of that monitor (at the moment) over the past few days. A couple of days ago it was £172 very briefly, then £175, then £190 ish and now just under £200 - so you should have been quicker off the bat ;).

23" exactly. From somebody who has tested a number of 23", 24" monitors and those in between I can tell you that you probably won't notice much from the 0.6" difference. Certainly not as profound as other differences (including price) that you would certainly notice.

Write up isn't that inspiring, tho I guess for the price its ok.

None of the Samsung 2233rz I've used have had any real back light bleed and they have really nice blacks and calibrate pretty well color wise (tho like the LG the dithering is apparent if you look for it).

what is the difference between the LG W2363D and the LG W2363D-PF

some sites they are same price, and others wildly different but specs look same?

Nothing - the 'PF' is part of the full product code that is often truncated. It is used on many other LG monitors and I can't remember what (if anything) it actually stands for.

I might be tempted to go for this monitor as i am sure it will be a lot better than my 5year old 24inch Iiyama Prolite which cost a lot of money at the time.

New monitor

I currently have a Samsung 23'' with native res at 2048 x 1152. Browsing through them monitors on ocuk I see that all the monitors seem to have native HD res 1920 x 1080. Is HD res going to be an improvement over my current res? Quite confused about this.

I also noticed this on such site.

Is this more evidence that the next gen of 120hz monitors are close ? :D PCM, any hints for us ? :)

The nvidia website show this as not being compatible with their 3dvision in hdmi?

I assume it works fine with the glasses over DVI?

3D Vision requires Dual link DVI to work. HDMI don't have the bandwidth for 1080p 60hz 3D.

A 3D television with its own glasses would probably work with nVidia 3D Player over HDMI. That would limit you to 720p @ 60hz or 1080p @ 24hz 3D over HDMI.

I really hope so. I suggested earlier that this price drop was to try to shift and continue to shift that monitor in the shadow of the impending 'new generation' of 120Hz monitors. I have become so sick of waiting to review them that I am occupying my time by reviewing 'some other monitor'. This other monitor happens to be the BX2440 - it isn't brand new or anything but people keep on asking if it's like a BX2450 with an adjustable stand. Soon I should be able to answer that. ;)

got mine today (£155 inc del) super happy with it. now i need a Hd 6850 to get 120 fps on mw2,my hd 5770 only manages 80 to 90fps on 1920x10180 max settings.

Do you get much backlight bleed?

I have bleed across the entire top and bottom edges. LG have collected it to fix it as they said it appears to be a defect. Otherwise the monitor is lovely :)
