Windows 8 release date leaked

I want awesome multi-mon support and multiple hot-switchable workspaces. All this built right into Explorer and be very polished.

I think quality>quantity. The gap between win xp and vista was way too big and tbh vista was not the best os ever but it looked pretty. Win 7 seems to be the best OS ever, nice gui, quick and responsive. I don't really think we need another OS this soon and I might not even upgrade as win7 is just perfect atm.

Also having new os and office package every 1-2 years is going to be a nightmare for businesses.

I cann't see windows 8 selling well so close to windows 7 release, I think windows 7 only did well because of the length of time since xp and vista widely being regarded as rubbish (by people still using XP having never even tried it...). The price is partly to blame though, most people don't even make use of the majority of features offered, and when lower cost packages are offered, they take out some of the useful stuff and leave the none-used features in. Maybe if the OS only cost as much as a video game and had all the media features in the lowest version then it might become more attractive to normal computer users.

Why are people up in arms about this yet when Apple do it, sing from the rooftops!?

I would like to see Microsoft introduce some sort of application signing to counter malware.

Apple = Cool :D don't care.

Anyway, the last/current release of OSX is only £26 rather than £70 (although Lion might be the latter again as its a big change) TBH I think it it down to Apple increasing its share. I don't know of anyone who has Chrome but I'm seeing more and more people convert over to Apple (two more due next month as well) basically becasue they are fed up with the crap that you get from Windows (It just works sales pitch from Apple isn't far from the truth)

At the end of the day it is all down to personal choice, I think it's too soon as W7 was a big improvement over XP (Never installed Vista)

There is no way windows 8 is droping in 2011!

Far too soon. We would have to be at RC stage now for this to happen.

2012 is what I heard.

I would agree with that. Win Vista came out in Beta in the summer, but did not go RTM until January the following year.:D

when I buy any windows from now on, Im gonna buy them near/on release date because the price just went up and up with win7. Its madness, Win7 oem/home was about £40 -50 at the beginning, and now look at the price of it.:mad:

Are you for real? July 1st 2011 RTM for Windows 8? If that's true, and it's 12 weeks away, how come I'm not already running the BETA?

I thought W8 was designed to counter Android, iOS and all those other increasingly complex tablet based operating systems?

The biggest change being 32bit ARMv7 support and a better touch UI.

I can maybe see the beta coming out in July.

ARM support is a big addition, and Microsoft really want to take advantage of this growing market. The longer its left, the less market share they will grab.

I expect a rushed OS
