Finally got caught :(

so let me get this right you were stopped by a copper on a bicycle? jeez you should have just carried on and pled ignorance :)

Thats very very harsh IMO, also the is no need whatsoever for that to be a "no right turn" junction, the are many identical ones near me where this is allowed, its not like traffic will be coming from the left at the same time onwards traffic is moving :S

Thing is if everybody took that right turn the roundabout would soon get blocked.

I don't suppose you'll be doing it again.

Correct me if im wrong here but isn't it at the digression of the officer on the scene wither or not he hands out points/fine or gives a warning/caution for an offence like this? if so I think he was a bit harsh.

It does come under discretion, but a ticket isn't the harshest punishment.

I got the impression that babylon-on-cycle had made up his mind beforehand that he was going to be handing out fines.

Somebody in the office said that I should have pleaded complete ignorance and said that I made an honest mistake but from what I gather he was there to catch and issue tickets.

Shouldn't have been speeding then!

:p

There's a no left turn on the way home near by which a lot of "people" do, no idea why it's a no left turn as it benefits nobody and just causes more traffic up the road as people return via the mini roundabout to take the same road via turning right...

On a more serious note, I asked the officer and he claimed I had no need to notify my insurance company but would need to tell them come renewal, is that correct?

I've always thought you had to notify the Insurance Company, as soon as your received any Penalty Points.

See article on people potentially invalidating insurance by thinking they don't have to notify until renewal.

yes, so if you've renewed recently, you'll be fine for quite a while.:D

As above, I'm not sure he would definitely be 'fine' to ignore it.

You're right, a policeman came into school a few months ago to tell us about young drivers crashing and stuff, he also said if you get points you should tell insurance company, because any small hiccup and they will pay less or even nothing.

Also if you have a medical condition or are taking medicine that says don't use machinery after taking it, you should inform the DVLA.
