Do you tidy your rubbish at KFC/McD's/BK?

Who clears away at macdonalds but leaves their glass on the table in a pub?

Seems everybody I know leaves their glass on the table even if they have to walk past the bar to leave.

When I was little my dad used to take me to the pub and I used to collect glasses for them. It has stuck and I will usually always take my glass back to the bar.

Since I've worked in a restaurant I will occasionally clear my plates away at cafés and restaurants. Just a simple "where would you like these?" does the job. Or even if you stack them at the table, with all the crap/cutlery on the top plate. So the person can just take it away in one go.

Didn't make my life much more difficult and it makes you feel good.

Always clean up your own mess.

I'd hate to see the state of some of the houses of the people who think the world owes them a living and refuse to clean up after themselves. That being said, I've been to more than a few house fires where it seems that the place actually looks to have benefited from the clear out, judging from the state of the rest of the house that we saved from the flames.

Now tell me, how on this earth do you equate people not clearing a tray in McDonalds with people that think the world owes them a living?

I gotta tell you my house is fantastic, very big, very clean and i been knocking my ****** out working since i was 14 till i half retired last year at 44.

I like to have a positive effect on everyone's life I touch, so I generally clear up after myself, return my glass etc. They may be paid to do it, but it's rare that someone's going to be upset that you cared enough to save them a job, give them a smile too and, mostly, they'll be lifted a tiny bit.
From a big picture perspective I think it's a good ethos to have as it can be one lazy person not clearing up, and that being the straw that breaks the camel's back of the MCD's worker's mood, who then upsets others with their bad mood etc etc....

God knows why im obsessing with this now but heres the thing, if they had a tip box id stick a few quid in it, but they aint, im just not seeing how putting it in the bin or not makes 1 iota of difference to them one way or the other.

Believe you me over the years iv had a million customers in one business or another and i just dont care if they are happy or not, if i get what i want and they get what they want thats it job done.

Am i missing something?

Instead of thinking of the faceless corporation behind the plastic smiles behind the counter, think of the next people after you.

I don't want to deal with other people's rubbish, and therefore don't impose mine on others either.

It is simply polite.

why should i inconvenience myself in order to make someone else (who i do not know, or even care about) a little less slightly inconvenienced?

especially when Mcdonalds already have staff on hand to clear up the table.

For the people that refuse to put their trays away as it's keeping someone in a job, etc. My question is this - Do you drop litter in the street, because there are street cleaners paid to keep the streets clean?
To me, it's the same thing. I don't leave my tray, or litter, because it's common courtesy not to do such.

Putting your own litter in a bin you walk past as you leave is an 'inconvenience'?

A bit of willy waving going on here I think.

So you clean up in your own house when you eat? Then what's to stop you cleaning up at a fast food restaurant when you eat? Oh, so they have staff who wipe tables? Then what about the signs that ask you to clean up your mess yourself and the abundance of bins for the aforementioned task?

Well the 'Or even care about' pretty much summed up your attitude there. I assume that you yourself don't want to sit at a table filled with rubbish?

As to pubs and pint glasses, this isn't a fair comparison as someone elses old glasses aren't going to stop you sitting down for a drink. At McDonalds if this happens you are pretty much forced to clean up someone elses mess before you are able to start eating.

So you clean it up and eat the happy meal, someone please shoot me because i just cant see the problem here. Iv been doing this for 30 odd years what on earth is the problem?

They don't do that at KFC :p

Off topic, but can the mod team PLEASE reiterate to NathWraith that he can't ban people for disagreeing with him (and no, what Lysander said wasn't a bad personal attack, it wasn't even an attack at all)? I've seen this happen quite a few times now, and it seems like the other mods ignore it. I'm seriously not having a go, I'm expressing a concern and believe that there needs to be more transparency to the moderation on this board. It may not be the time and place to say, but I suspect I'll just be ignored again if I emailed a mod.

Im sorry just read his posts for christ sake and tell me none of that was aimed at being a personal attack?

It wasn't that he disagreed with me, if you read my replies you would know that! I even said to him that we have different opinions and we will both accept that.

It was the way he conducted is why he got banned. He broke forum rules, end of. If you believe it is unfair then email me in my trust.
