Anyone else tried this?

in basic terms it gives you the stereostopic effect but with the old RED/BLUE glasses. I only actually 'discovered' this recently I didn't even know it was possible!

Went ahead and bought a nice quality pair of red and blue glasses and recieved them this morning, got in from work and was ready to try it out. Not tried red/blue glasses for a long long time.

Was actually quite surprised! obviously the picture quality isn't as good as active 3D but you still get as much of the depth of field there is of course some blue/red crossover and it can take time for your eyes to adjust but none the less it works.

Great way to try out a bit of 3D gaming if you haven't already and from what I've tried I NEED to sort a proper 3D monitor out now!

I had absoloutely no idea it was possible, its a great introduction you still get an amazing 3D effect it's not ideal but it gives you an idea of what you can expect with a proper 3D active setup. Definitely something I'll be looking into!

It's like cocaine or heroine or some drug deal. The first hit is free-ish...

But after that you gotta pay through your nose

So what equipment do you need for this? Does it work with just the basic glasses or do you need a 120hz screen and other bits and bobs?

you just need a pair of any analglyph 3D glasses. No other special requirements (except for an NVIDIA card of course.) And it works with different types of anaglyph too. You can callibrate it for anything you want.

You can use ANY screen, I've found playing on my TV at a distance is a bit more easier to view.

Just need basic red/blue glasses I bought them off ebay for £1.70 the field/depth of field is fantastic just like actual Active 3D just a bit messier!

Just tried Bad Company 2. Works great! really good 3D effect just harsh in the white scenes as you get a red/blue crossover it's bearable though, this'll have to do until I decide to not be a ***** and get a real 3D tv

While you're at it try this video...

I remember there was a way to use active 3D on this as well though I can't remember how.

I barely noticed a difference with and without the 3d glasses for that trailer xsistor posted:(

There were some parts where it felt 3D, but very few

Another cheapskate way of getting a 3D effect is pulfritch glasses. Downside is the scene needs to be moving for the effect to work, but thats not usualy an issue for games/film ;). Doesnt require any special 3d driver from nvidia or ati either, it just works !

I tried this out a few years ago using a cheap pair of red/green glasses borrowed from my kids! At the time you needed a special Nvidia driver and it didn't work with all games but when it did the effect was impressive. I remember Mount and Blade and Doom 3 being particularly good while Call of Duty 2 and Far Cry didn't work so well. There was a general issue with on screen displays and cross hairs - these are usually painted on to the screen in 2D so they come out funny in the 3D world.

No competitor links How about these then? £2.49 and free delivery if you have Amazon prime. I had a pair of these somewhere and they were very good.

Does this count as posting a competitor? :o .. I don't imagine OCUK is in the business of selling cheap analgyph glasses and suchlike
