Warning - Contains Insurance Rant

PR2 has some nice and some not so nice areas. There is also a problem with staged accidents in Preston that has probably caused insurers to blanket refuse cover in some cases.

I'm in a nice one (although not a million miles away from dodgy ones, but hey, that's life). Didn't know about the staged accidents though, I guess that's why my current insurer has a blanket ban on the PR2. Bugger :(

To put the above into context....

On my old postcode, on a policy taken out in February this year, adding my parents made bugger all difference.

Now, adding the pair of them knocks the premium from £2180 to £1550.

Go figure!

But yes, I owe Ace big style.

Fox - I spoke to him on steam chat :)

Gave him some tips to get his policy price down, advised him to park on road at night, to add his mum and dad as named drivers and to check out a few different job title amendments cos they all can affect it.

whats needed here is one of my amazing dick growing, salary increasing, insurance premium dropping, mega bracelets, 12 quid each cheques to diamonduk :D

Is parking on road cheaper than on a drive or in a garage?

What's the logic behind this dropping his premium?

It's quite a bit cheaper with Bell if I say my car lives on the road as opposed to the drive.

Maybe because it's more visible and hence less likely to get stolen?

Garage is most expensive, presumably due to entry/exit accidents.

I'm sure the statistics agree with you, but how the hell does that work? Surely if car thieves can see it, they will nick it? If it isn't in sight it, it won't be stolen? Right? I don't get it.

If it's on a drive it'll probably only be partially hidden, but still allow some privacy to break into the car without being seen or noticed. If it's on the road it's much more obvious if someone is trying to break in.

Changing from being parked on driveway to being parked on street dropped my premium with Admiral by £90. No idea why but I'm not complaining.

Try insuring a Nissan GTR on the street and in the garage... there will be a difference

Obviously not a GTR but i've been reliably informed that this is the same for 911s.....it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper with admiral (20%) to insure my car parked on the road than in the garage......it's £800 for on the road, £840 for communal parking area, £900 for driveway and £1000 for garage.

Figure that out unless it is purely based on people crashing into the garage.

Tom.

Doing my renewal now and it's also cheaper for me to park on the road rather than my driveway/garage, this is with Elephant. I wasn't even going to try change that so thanks to this thread!
