Decent PC is 8 times more powerful than PS3

I don't see the big "debate" with Consoles v PC's.. I prefer to use my PC, but I also get lot's of fun out of the Console.

Surely that is what they are about? Being able to play games on them, and enjoying doing so. Forget all the technology crap behind any of them, and do what they were made to do.. Play games!

Why do people blurt nonsense about pc gaming being expensive? I recently upgraded my 4 year old system for less than 500 quid (mobo, cpu, ram, gfx card, & ssd), and I expect it to last at least 3 years. I remember years ago paying something ridiculous like 200 quid for a stick of 512mb xms ram.

A console is a PC isnt it? Motherboard/cpu/ram/hard drive/sound card/graphics card...sounds like a PC to me? Just a low spec PC.

EDIT: Although, I thought someone told me the CPU in the PS3 was amazing and had 8 cores? Well maybe not amazing now, but when it came out?

Then why are you bothering?

Seriously unless you're a massive PC elitist then what does it achieve? You just enjoy what you enjoy and let them enjoy what they enjoy.

Oh and fully star out your swearwords, it's in the rules.

Just because a comparison isn't 100% accurate, it doesn't mean it is completely useless. The point was still made.

ok so you're saying the pc is 8 times faster by running at roughly console settings on your hardware then uping the settings on the same hardware?

how much ram your pc got 4-8gb?

Lets see how well your pc runs windows let alone crysis + windows on 256mb of ram.

if it can't then omg ps3 more powerful than a pc!!!!

2gb is the minimum ram from the system requirements list) so a pc needs 8 times the amount of ram to run the game at equal (or lower) settings!?

OMG consoles are 8 times more efficient than PC's

Yeah but he never claimed that he had 256MB of ram... Neither did he say a PC with 256MB of ram is 8x faster than a PC... Your comparison is completely unrelated. And for useless comparisons, try sticking 8GB of ram in a PS3 and see if it runs 32x as well???

This does seem overlooked during these arguments. At one time, you'd buy your expensive components and by the time you'd finished building it, it was obsolete.

Todays games are mostly lazy console ports so there is no longer a need to buy the lastest component to make the games run at their maximum.

I've got an OC I3 bundle with a 460GTX and although it would be more expensive than a console to buy it's never really struggled to play any game I've put on it.

And considering a PC game after a month or two is £20 and console games are £40 odd it won't take many games to make up the difference.

No.

1 main core, 8 spe's (co-processors if you will) - not the same, and certainly not something you'd want as your main pc cpu.

Regardless, PC games are in general cheaper then PS3/xbox

They are cheaper but as someone who buys games for both, you would have to buying 5+ games a month for the difference to a relevant amount. If you buy a game every couple of months then the difference isn't worth thinking about. Look at the top sellers on one of the main game sites

Because I thought it could be interesting? I love being called PC elitist as someone who owns PC, PS2 and PS3 :D, keep rocking.
Sorry about the swearword!

You are a strange, strange man

My PC has 7-8x times more frames per second at roughly the same settings that PS3 version runs at. End of story. Whether I have 4gigs of ram compared to 256MB in PS3 is irrelevant to this point, completely and utterly.

As for game prices - PC games are a lot cheaper in my experience. I can get them for 20 pounds a month after release usually, which does not happen with console games. Not to mention steam sales, etc.

But I got Heavy Rain for 15 pounds on ebay few months after release, but that was second hand.
