335i M Convertible

Nothing wrong with sports cars when you hit middle age the only thing im never ever going to do in a car again is change gear.

The thing is I don't want to or have interest to drive sports cars when I'm old, the whole reason is to do it now when I've still got my youth intact.

Well I'm up for adoption if anyone is interested :D?

That is a very strange view, hasn't affected my dad who got his first Porsche at the grand old age of 60, and doesn't want to slow down now! :D Could understand if you were maybe talking about racing or something, but you can still enjoy a bit of right foot when you're older, still have the majority of your ability as well as the years and years of experience to back it up.

I am surprised that these things are still so expensive.

What would the going rate be for a fully loaded 07 M-sport with 47k on the clock?

Finding one with the right spec seems to be quit difficult.
On top of the normal stuff like nav and leather the following are really worth having
Logic7
Active Steering
Active headlights
Comfort access
USB

Yea, an MX5 is just like a 335i M Sport Cab.

In the same way, I guess, that a Honda Accord 1.8 is just like an Audi S4.

Stopgap until summer's over, although I guess mx5s will be in demand now.

Always said if I was gonna drop this kinda money on a motor it would be a 911 (997), just don't know if the rear seats are gonna cut it for this kids though, they are 7 and 9.

The problem is 25k does not get you a 911 that is worth having you need to up the budget to around 33K+ and you may be able to find a nice 07 with 40 ish k on the clock unless you would be happy with a early 05 car.

The kids will fit at that age but its not spacious.

Do it properly and get something worthy of this price tag. If you are even considering a 911 then from the BMW camp you need to be considering the 6-series range of cars, not the 3-series range - of which very nice ones are more than in budget. The question really should not be whether your kids will fit, but rather whether you are happy to up the budget to an extent which will get you a decent 997.

WRT to the 997, go to an OPC, and just try one. The OPC staff are IME very helpful and accommodating, take the kids with you and all sit in one. The seats are no good for adults really but for the kids they should stack up just fine, the seats are not that small.

To be honest I can see myself buying a 3 Series and not being satisfied with it and then changing to a 911!

Then dont do it, because that will ***** more money than depreciation and servicing together.

Have a look at a 6 series like Jez suggested, or up the budget to 30k and get a nice 997.

You will not be satisfied with a 3-series, just dont bother. I like them very much in isolation but for this money dont even bother.

The 6-series is a much more impressive looking and feeling car with that sense of opulence, with usable rear seats - if you were to look at BMW at all.

Mercedes dont make anything which fits the bill.

That leaves porsche. The 997 is clearly the car you want. So dont bother unless its one of them. Take the kids to the OPC, as i say they will likely be very accommodating, and rule out the seat issue as i am sure it will be fine.

You know what his kids are going to moan about dont you? Daaaaaad we cant see nothing from here thats the problem in a 911 not room at that age, mine moaned about exactly that many moons ago.
