Fett/DM SL owners? Front/rear battery conditioning.

How do you guys keep the car conditoned battery wise? Mine will often see use only at the weekends, perhaps not for a couple of weeks at a time, therefore i guess i would like to keep it on a ctek.

Question is, which battery would you keep conditoned? Should i buy a 2nd ctek and have one connected to both front and rear batteries?

Or does the SL not drain/kill batteries ala porsche?
 
Mine hasnt stood still for more than a day so i dont know yet, the only car iv got a conditioner for is me Bentley its in the boot and i think it does both batteries. But i might be wrong there.

As for SL's i would have thought you'd be ok as long as you start it once a week.

Even Porsches i never had a problem after a week or 2 its when you put them away for the winter or weeks on end the problems start i found.
 
I found the 911 to be bad, it would sit there draining away if left for more than a week or so. Seemed to be common at the time on that when i read up on it so i didnt think much more of it.

I guess with the SL i can just wait and see what happens. It should always start in theory i guess as the car charges the front battery first.

I wonder what Fett does with his, he has had it for quite a while so should be in a good position to answer.
 
Fett probably has a conditioner for his as you say.

No one agreed with me but i always put the battery drain on a 996 down to the alarm but even so i always found they were alright with a once a week start.

Have you gone and bought an SL by the way :)
 
Yeah '04 500 7G. Needs a bit of a clean internally but its off its original owner who makes you and my old man look poor (:eek:) with about an inch thick A4 bind of every last letter and note from new, so its all good :)

Oh i will, just the right time of year too! Always wanted one of these, to get a facelift 7G example is just a bonus, id have settled for an 02 to be honest, they are all gorgeous :)

How much was it what colour leather? You get a panoramic roof?
 
~13, light grey, yeah has the glass roof, phone, keyless all that stuff :) You know me well enough to know id have practically stolen it! Looking at others around i think its a near £20k motor really with its history and condition.
 
Even cheaper than mine, that was a bargain, shame you ended up with the same leather as me i hate grey.

But since getting the old Glyptone out mine has come up a treat.

Eagle eyes they are out there.

No word of a lie if i could be bothered to get off my arse and go look i can spot a car every week that has got at least a grand in it, but you will have to travel and be prepared to waste a few quid and a bit of time doing it.

Ive been giving mine a good clean in the sun today, its actually coming up absolutely beautifully. I dont like grey in BMWs etc but this is far better than black, its a really light shade and makes the interior look nice and light as a result.

Id rather the cream obviously, but this car was getting on for 7k off retail and is loaded up, so i cant complain. A cream interior one even for 2k more than i paid would be an 02 pre facelift 5 speeder with 4:3 cd nav and no bluetooth etc.

Dont know, dont really care. Whatever it costs its worth it :) If i started caring about running costs id not have near 10L of merc on the drive.

Yeah same as that in this. Ive got the part wood wheel (similar to the one in my s-class) which i love too which was a bonus. They look far better in real life than pics seem to make out i reccon :)

Edit: one thing to note about mine is that the price i paid was due to a few things, it needs 2 front tyres and a service B, and also needed a ruddy good clean. The service and front tyres will be the best part of 3 grand if i want to keep the main dealer on it. So that (serviced and ready to go) makes it more like a 16-17k deal i guess if i do that. Still good value for a freshly serviced one with what will be 4 new tyres.
