Is PSN under attack? - PSN now back up 15/05

You might pay for plus but you dont pay to play online your paying for discounts and early access to stuff effectivly thats it?

I dont even see how any can feel we deserve some sort of freebie whilst its nice in some forums people are going crazy assuming they deserve free games(i dont just mean one their being idiots saying 3+ and then hd vids etc). Its been nearly a week which isnt great but its not like its happened every month or so then id say its a crap service and we do deserve something as we bought the consol.

If it takes another week all for it if it means it doesnt happen again.

Bottom line is though, PSN+ is still an online service which is not accessible right now. I agree with you in what you're saying, asking for free games and hd vids etc is going a bit too far. I just think every PSN+ user should have the downtime added to their subscription, if it's been down 5 days I think that should be added to the length of everyone's subscription I don't think that's asking too much.

I've been thinking about this. Anonymous have released a statement washing their hands of any responsibility for PSN being down, and no other group has claimed responsibility. Don't you find this a bit weird? If it really was Anon, they would be dancing and boasting about how easy it was for them to rip down PSN for a week, but they have completely denied it's them.

Also, what part of that FBI article mentions anything about PSN? It says that the FBI are putting out warrants because of the amount of personal information Anon are collecting about the people involved with the court cases, it says nothing about PSN.

Just heard about this on the radio in the garden. Sony must be getting some serious bad rep over this, while it doesn't effect me at all, it's fairly clear from the masses they've had on national radio, there's a fair bit of discontent out there.

That being said though, i know radio 5 screen their calls n'all, but building any kind of sympathy for some of the people that are calling in totaly distressed states that they can't get on call of duty... not so good:/

I still dont understand its not like Sony wanted it to happen, it was hacked and to prevent hackers gaining CC info Sony shut the service down. This would have cost a lot in lost income so it wouldnt be something they would lightly not including the cost of the PSN rebuild over Easter. Sure people not happy but what can you do? Its the hackers fault not sonys, not sure how its any more plain to see than that, if a bank gets robbed is it the banks fault or the theifs?

Hope it will be back on tuesday or wednesday so i can check if anyone has beat my ea gamernet challenges :p but seriously i am starting to miss my online play .

I've been reading that service being back on Tuesday is probably wishful thinking and it will more likely be the following weekend.

It does seem odd that people have speculated Tuesday because surely if their rebuilding all the servers with new security etc it would take weeks due to how many ps3 owners their is with accounts etc

I've given up caring now. It's been the perfect opportunity for me to make some headway through the huge pile of unplayed Steam games. :D

So, any sources to back up this nonsense?

What makes you think they haven't exported everything already (or removed it all :))?

If that had happened i imagine it would have been leaked by now. Sony would be legally obliged to inform relevant companies in the event of a leak. If they failed to do this the consequences would be harsh.

I doubt they would reveal anything at the moment to be honest, especially when they will be trying to work out what happened and what people did/didn't have access to (this could take days/weeks/months depending on who Sony bring in to help). Look at the recent RSA breach and how much information has come out about that so far.

Back in February they were warned, people didn't take it seriously, now I'm not saying that it is the same bunch of people that did hack PSN or even if what the original hackers stated is true but it makes you think!
