Is PSN under attack? - PSN now back up 15/05

Like black beard, grey beard, white beard?

Would that make them pirates ..?

Suppose some of them are..

Wizards AND Pirates, man that makes a fearsome force. The entertainment industry will attest to that :)

Soooo.... it's really kinda annoying PSN is still down, just glad I didn't buy Socom on day of release or I'd be properly peeved!

A black hat is the villain or bad guy, especially in a western movie in which such a character would wear a black hat in contrast to the hero's white hat.[1]

The phrase is often used figuratively, especially in computing slang, where it refers to a computer security hacker that breaks into networks or computers, or creates computer viruses.[2]

BBC updated to say that Sony have been saying for the past days 'update within hours' but it never comes.
I've not seen Sony being that specific with time frames in regards to updates so far. I expect they will give a guarded explanation as to what the situation is, without being too specific. I don't expect a specific timeframe for when the PSN might be back up though.

They will just say "Still down sorry we are still working on it its taking abit longer than anticipated once again thanks for your patience" i think :P

Tut. And it's another long bank holiday weekend this week. I might have to purchase Bad Company 2 again on Xbox 360!

Its at times like this you see how skewed the balance is between customer/consumer and businesses that provides that service that you "pay" for:

(Irrespective of the argument over whether Online is free/paid...yeah its free kinda)

For Sony to just say

ohh sorry we are working on it itll be back soon.

Is a bag of crap.

How about if i say to Sony (or any other business where i have a service agreement with) ill download some of your games but pay you later as im skint at the moment that okies....sorrreeee but i'll pay soon promise.

Of course it wouldn't wash at all - if you dont pay or uphold your end of the agreement/bargain they come after you, switch your sky off, block access to online features etc etc.

Its a totally skewed business relationship. Do Sony have to sign any agreement saying they must provide x,y,z to me? No of course not lol Of course this is hypothetical as i dont (and i imagine most dont) pay for PSN as its free.

Not really annoyed at PSN being offline but i reckon i would be a lot more annoyed if i was a PSN+ customer.....

Really struggling to understand the anger over this. SONY have hardly taken the service down for a laugh, it was obviously broken and/or compromised by someone or something. I fail to see why people are throwing their SONY toys out of the pram.
