Noticed this with certain work-mates and some friends outside work.
You're queer, you're bent, you take it up the **** - associated jokes on that theme!

When your in your teens this is obviously pretty normal, maybe in your 20's too but noticed this with blokes who maybe should know better in their 30's and 40's!

Doesn't this stuff get kinda old? We haven't any gay people work at my company but wondered how people's chit chat so quickly would have to change if they did? :D

I work in a fairly working class environment, nothing wrong with that but maybe that's the reason?

Having worked with several gents of the bender persuasion, they were just as quick to refer to something as "gay" as us straight guys.

Normally indicates a sign of curiosity. Believe me, the ones who make the jokes are the first to ask you all kinds of questions about it. Six pints later... ;)

Usually just friendly windup banter if you are drunk with good mates. With colleagues at work? Not so much.

My work mates generally use the word gay in, shall we say, the classic definition rather than naff, rubbish etc!

The jokes are also quite 'technical' when describing various aspects of men to men acts.

I realise it's mostly friendly banter but it's an obsession with a few of them, it never stops!

A friend works in a warehouse where they regularly practice the act on each other (no insertions obviously)- sneak up on people from the behind and exercise a few 'thrusts' lol!
To be honest that's not the working environment i could work in for long!:D

one of the jobs I had it was dominated by males, there was only 1 girl ever working there and they would all quit after not very long. (not sure why )

gay jokes were pretty much said all day long to the point that was a bit boring sometimes but we had no choice since the manager and one of the team leaders were the ones that always started :P

Yes, it has gotten old. Hopefully one day we'll move past the archaic view that homosexuality is something abominable, and instead not use the term "gay" to describe something that is bad.

People who use it are often those with poor vocabularies, who resort to these sorts of things to fill in the gaps that their education didn't provide as they were too busy getting ****** at the age of 13.

You need to work in a factory! Calling a pufter a cross dressing shirt lifter never gets old.

lol sounds like a bunch on imature rejects....

im pretty imature but "your gay" ahahahahah is just lame

Agreed. I've been at this company for so many years (14 in total) i now consider it normal though i know it probably isn't.

I consider myself quite immature sometimes but not to the same extent as the people i work with. Working with these people hasn't helped my quest to turn into a mature responsible adult!

I hate to go down the class route as i respect people from any background but this kind of humor + the general p*ss taking you get in the workplace seems more of a working class thing.
Having said that i know plenty of people from working class backgrounds who are very intelligent and don't behave like this so maybe it's linked to intelligence.

To the poster who said their workplace had all blokes apart from one girl, my place is very similar to this, all the girls work together in one office (accounts)

I bet things would be different if a girl was working in the main sales office! I'm referring to blokey p*ss taking rather than gay jokes.
Some women love this kind of humour though but don't think any decent girl would last long at our company.
