I'm reading it now and have to say it's an amazing text. When you approach without any preconceptions nor bias instilled from the mainstream media I fail how anyone (who believes in God) can't see it's divine origin.

Also I can't how or why it's so imcompatible with the teachings of of the other prophets like Moses and Jesus. And more importantly why so many Christians and Jews see it as false, fraudulant ect.

Are there any christians or jews here that have read it?

A christian friend of mine made a valid point re: Muslims:

So they say that Jesus lived, and he's a prophet, yet they don't believe what he said.

I've read it..however I should start reading it again, in Arabic ofcourse. Last Ramadan I started to read it in English to fully understand it, it is amazing once you read it.

Magick, have you read the following: "And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the living creatures He has scattered through them." (42.29)

And: "The seven heavens and the earth, and beings therein, declare his glory." (17:44)"

Thought you may find it interesting.

No, I have no interest in it. I remember trying to read the bible as a child and had no interest in it either (with no interest to read that now).

I was reading the Koran the other day and I was overwhelmed with a sense a sheer dread of fear of God and the wrath he will unleash upon the earth but at the same time overjoyed and perfectly at ease that a revelation had been sent giving pure guidance on how to be liberated and saved.

And from your response I assume you'r a muslim right? Have you ever read the bible and if so how did you find it? I don't see any scriptual conflict as mohammad says i've come to neither add nor take from the prophets that came before me.

Read a good chunk of the old testament and some of the new in primary school. Sure didn't inspire me to believe in divine creation, nor did my communion or confirmation.
I've got by pretty darn well without belief, so even if the Koran is indeed a brilliant text, I think I'll stick to reading GD

What bits did you find to be compatible with the teachings of Christ?
Seeing as you can't understand why Christians wouldn't feel the same way?

To go further it's more or less the same as the writings of Paul in Romans and Corinthians though expressed slightly differently without all potential pitfalls of idel worship that could come from spiritualy naive people reading paul hence why so many chistians end up worshipping Jesus and doing the exact oppoesite of what he preached.

That the foundation of your existance should be mindfulness of God. This is empphsised over and over again throughout the koran.

I'm not a Christian or Jewish but I have read both the Qu'ran and the Bible (various translations and editions) many times.

Needless to say neither they or other faith's scriptures have yet convinced me of anything. I remain ignostic.

Zecharia Sitchin -The Earth Chronicles Books 1-7

I found those a very good read on religion.

They are hardly about religion, they are just another Daniken-esque ancient astronaut hypothesis. While interesting no doubt, they are most certainly not an objective or particularly accurate read on religion, unless you are a Raelian......

Thats a good book as well.

I read parts of the Koran once and tbh I had no idea what it was on about. I was in the Gulf at the time and it was the only book I could find whilst on guard..
