HD6770M 1GB GDDR5

725/800 default clocks.

Should be a nice upgrade from the 5730 and a lot cooler than the 5850 and give me some battery life.

Pfft, now I want your laptop:P.

So you don't have the card yet? Get some temps/performance comparisons when you're done?

Is in transit, get it early next week.

Only very specific machines can upgrade.

Since this is an MXM-A card there are a few around that can take it.

Sure i'll post some benchmarks.

Ha, if you look the new cores use less power than the 5670 cores (in the 6670 cards) and the mobile cards will be the lowest power consumption silicon of all.

Plus I have a 0.5A 5V Fan anyway, that's 2.5 watts just on the fan lol, it can push a LOT of air.

Either way at the same core speed (The 5730 I am using atm is at 875/1100 from 650/800) it should with the GDDR5 use a similar amount of power.

cool was looking to upgrade my laptop hd4500 mxm type a so was interested in buying one of these. you will have to tell me how it runs and how hard it is to swap

How hard they are to swap depends on the notebook, mine is a total disassembly, others are just a panel and 4 screws.

I am testing out a new source with these so once I receive it and confirm everything is above board I will be happy to report the source.

This is the state my laptop is in when replacing the graphics card:

Also running 8 gigs of ram :D

Card is now in Germany, making its way closer :)

Enjoy, I seem to remember reading they run in a similar performance region to the 5870m, although I think the 6870m is the direct replacement with similar performance, with the 6970m being quite a bit faster.

5850M GDDR5 will be the closest card.

6870M = 5870M (same chip, much like 6770 = 5770 desktop)

However the 6870M is clocked lower than the 5870M :S

Note that the pictured card is equipped with hynix T2C ram (1250mhz rated) so I hope I get a nice mem overclock :)
