Lol, 6/2(1+2)

2*1+2=6

6/6=1
This is possibly even more wrong, because you've used the correct symbol "over" there and not the annoy division symbol that has been the source of confusion.

Code:
6
- (1+2) = 6/2(1+2)
2

6/2(1+2)

"6 over 2 (3) multiplied by 1 plus 2 (3)"

And also

Code:
6/2*(1+2) = 6/2(1+2)

Haha, several million internet posts across thousands of forum and some people still cant accept the intentional ambiguity of the formula.....

:D

2(x + 2x) = (2x + 4x)
2(1 + 2) = (2 + 4)

Oh I totally missed this part. Didn't realise we were not going to mention the 6/ at all, 2(1+2) is 6, so neither of the poll answers are right I guess... Assume x is 1, 2(x+2x) = 2(1+2) = 2(3) = 2*3 (wait, what.. where did the * come from), going from the "1" crowd point of view the 2(3) is one equation so answer is 23 amiright?

I wish I didn't wake up drunk and just choose 1 side, I can see either side but I lean towards 9 and so trololol answer is 9 anything else is wrong ;):p:D

Just because you do not know or understand something doesn't make it universally ambiguous.

Or is everything you don't know universally ambiguous?

I used a fx83gt calc....

When it is written:

6 divided 2(1+2) the answer is 1.

When it is written 6/2(1+2) the answer is 9.

Ambiguous notation is ambiguous.

I just had to quickly make this!

Dammit guys I need a definite answer otherwise my Romanian wife won't let me pay to bring her over to me so we can be happy together..

Weren't you saying it was 9 yesterday? :p

Besides, nothing wrong with getting it wrong as long as you aren't asserting you know the answer for sure and are willing to learn :)

Exactly, I first took it as 9 and voted that way, until the ambiguity was pointed out by the wife and I looked at it again.

Even the darned calculator gives two different answers.

So it would seem that it can be 9 or 1 depending on how you look at it.

God-damned Trolls....:D
