Bumped into a range rover, should have had the roof down, gonna have to buy some vaseline

Tyrone: I didn't see it there.
Vinny: It's a four ton truck, Tyrone. Its not as if it's a packet of ******* peanuts, is it?
Tyrone: It was a funny angle.
Vinny: It's behind you Tyrone. Whenever you reverse, things come from behind you.

Sorry :o:p:D

I am going to bet that he thought it would be cool to reverse quickly out of the drive and pull the steering wheel soon as he is out in one quick motion, like the movies. Except he failed completely.

Because there is no way he can miss that range rover reversing when it is parked on the other side of the road! He must have travelled about 2 car lengths before hitting it from his drive.

Karma punished you for the hard top being on outside the months of January ad February. This is a lesson in owning a '5. It has good heaters. Hard tops are for grannies.

I don't know what kind of boulevards you live on, but if I am trying to reverse out of my drive and there is a vehicle parked either side, and a vehicle parked opposite, it can be damn difficult to get out.

Not saying the OP shouldn't have looked and not crashed (clearly he should) but I can see how these things happen.

Sis did a very similar thing only it was an X5, bent the door and wing a bit, cost to the insurer came to about 10k  I should maybe add that some of the cost was down to the owner having a really dear courtesy car for a while, but this guy will no doubt want the same so no difference really.

10k for a bent wing and door on an x5

Most insurers would limit the car you can have for an x5 its not going to be anything to special.

£10k seems abit excessive

If you go via helphire or the like an equivilant car will be provided. An X5 is a premium 4x4, so the hire charges will be, um, high.

Someone I know who had chosen to have a 'like for like' courtesy car (or something along those lines) was given two different Range Rover Sports (which he wasn't happy with) and they then gave him a CLS. He had the car for a couple of weeks and the bill was a huge (the insurance paid not him). So I wouldn't be at all surprised at that overall bill if he had a similar policy.
