Just wondering how many MPG do you guys get? If it filled it up to the brink how many miles can you get out of the tank?

This is a for town drive, the odd motorway driving and B roads.

Just that my auntie is looking to replace her IS 200 with something a bit more economical.

This.

It drinks like a 200bhp executive saloon but performs like a 140bhp one :(

153 brake. 0-60 in 9.7 seconds.

:(:o

In answer to OPs questions 280mile drive to Wales combining motorway, B and A road returns about 32mpg. Regarding purely town I have no clue.

Just had a play with one of these over The Pass of Dunmail Raise on the way back from a trip over Honister Pass to pick up some slate. The above explains a lot, could not see him anywhere on the hill by the time I got to the bottom.

VVTi though :p Does help a little, and if the gear ratios were lengthened a bit it would be a LOT faster.

How so? Does it not hit the power band in 1st till 80mph?

Not sure about torque power band but bhp is available across entire rev range.

I'm just relaying what my Dad has said, having never driven the car properly I can't give you my own opinion on it, aside from the gear ratios are exceedingly short - especially 1-4th.

If memory serves, I got ~26mpg or so in the short period I owned one. Quite liked the car, but it was woefully underpowered. Made a nice noise though!

You definitely don't buy a lexus for a good mpg return. My 220d rarely gets better than 34mpg compared to the same trip and driving style as me old passat (B5.5 PD 130) which did around 45mpg-50mpg. Even though me lex is 175bhp and the passat was 130bhp the passat would kill it to 60 without a shadow of a doubt.

As I said, relaying what was said.

What would lengthening the gear ratios do?

You'd just be in a different gear when you get destroyed by a 318i.

Also VVT *should* make a car which can produce good power but manage good fuel economy if you go easy. It's one of the reasons Fox's 230bhp 530i can beat 30mpg sometimes.
