Is PSN under attack? - PSN now back up 15/05

I wouldnt say that, im guessing from previous posts that sony had planned to release cross game chat but decided with this overhaul to implement it sooner, again just another assumption on my part but there will be doing a lot of testing going on which again takes time, but if what ppl are saying only a few days more before we can get online and play with full intergration to following in the comming weeks.

I never, ever, normally do, but I went out and bought Portal 2 on the sole basis of playing it online and found out when I got the game home that PSN was down. :(

Oh, men. This is the best idea yet.

Sony makes everything FREE on the PlayStation store and you have 60 seconds to grab whatever the hell you like. :D Then the prices go back to normal.

Isn't LBP1 free for all ps+ members these days?
That would mean that every PSN user will be getting at least one free retail game, even if it is really old.
Also, everyone will have access to the cloud saves, so can backup all their important and protected saves for 7 months at no charge.

Stuff isn't available retroactively, it's only available to those who have been subscribed since the month when it was available.

Those that are new to PS+ will only gain access to that months offers, not previous ones. If they choose to continue a paid PS+ sub they will get to keep whatever games they've gotten for free until they cancel their sub.

Thing is, if they deem that they have fixed the issue, why not just bring the whole network online, or are their servers going to keel over if they did that?

Apparently its back on in Japan.
Interesting - any ideas when it came back on? I noticed changes in the PSN maintenance message last night when I posted - wondering if it was them tinkering...

Like with anything its far easier to locate issues/problems with a phased/minimum required launch then when you put everything back online - think of it like building a new PC...

Hmm, I can't seem to spot anybody on Twitter posting that it's active in Japan. They're all still babbling on about their credit cards being stolen.
