NATO air strike possibly kills Gaddafi's son

no i dont think you understand. we dont have the ability to be in 3 conflicts, 2 of which are/would major.

the last (the current one has only started to be implemented) SDR aimed for 1 major conflict and two minor interventions and we equipped ourselves short of that SDR due to budgets.

we dont have the ability, if you would like to magic some be my guest. this is inheritly the problem with decisions based on the public's whim.
you expect others to do the impossible without any sacrifices on your own part, what your suggesting is something akin to waiting 10 years and doubling the military's budget until then, nevermind the political problems at home and abroad. its so far based from reality its like suggesting we conquer the moon.

would like to think so as typhoon apparently fared very well against india's SU-30's in the bidding for india's fighter contract.

The Su30 and the Su35 and the ultimate evolution of a 30 year old design whereas the Typhoon is of a newer generation. However, the Su30MKI,LCA and MMRCA are going to be the backbone of the IAF so I suspect that the Indians will be proactive in keeping their frontline fighters up to date. For example, the Su30MKI will have a AESA radar in the latter batches which will replace the current Bars PESA radar. Even their Mig29 and Mig21 fighters are probably the most up to date versions of these fighters in service.

HAL is co-developing the PAK-FA and the FGFA with Russia too so any avionics improvements as a result of this program are going to be retrofitted back to the older fighters.

yeh i know, the discussion was on the typhoon vs the syrian airforce which fields flankers and 29's. thats why i mentioned the india competition because if it did well against a well kept superior force it should do well against the syrian airforce.

i know as MMRCA is the competition i posted in your quote. its between typhoon and rafale now.

I know the MMRCA is a two horse race now but it was simpler to write!! :p

Anyway,Syria does have a very important ally from the Cold War days, namely, Russia who even is modernising the Tartus naval base to host its own ships.

Along with Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi and Abu Sufian Ibrahim Ahmed Hamuda Bin Qumu then maybe we'll get some peace...;)

maybe well get some peace if russia and china assassinate cameron and sarkozi or maybe they could do what france+america+uk did for israel and give libya nukes

skynews just showing a bunch of videos from syria totally horrific i dont remember any videos like that from libya and its been going on for well over a month

I just loved how the Brit government today is complaining that Libyan people loyal to Gaddafi have attacked the British embassy Libya, saying it's not on and have in retaliation, expelled the Libyan ambassador. The biggest joke is that there wasn't even any British staff in the Libyan capital at the time of the attack, so it was mostly symbolic!

WTF do these murdering tw**s in charge of our country expect? They've just killed the son and innocent grandchildren of Gaddafi who is still a sovereign leader of his own country - of course his supporters are going to be outraged...are these people in charge of our country really so ******* stupid or something?

I watched a Foreign Office spokesman lie through his teeth in a TV interview about their actions...they are absolute out and out liars when they say they are not trying to assassinate Gaddafi!
I had hoped this coalition government would have had more restraint than the previous administration but it looks like they are just the same!

ofcourse the people in charge of our country arent stupid they will use any ammunition they can to keep the general population whos opinion does matter in favour of toppling gaddafi.

if the goverment says something is bad and not on most sheep will blindly believe them like tony blair showed when he claimed saddam has all these WMD's and we must stop him because we could be a target...

general population blindly believe it and are in favour, lies dont matter look at good old tony now rofl the world leaders just seem to scratch each others backs

Yep... TB should be tried for war crimes but of course he wont - and the thing is this government is using the same lying tactics!

For instance, those cluster bomb tailfins which were old and rusty being put on display recently in order to villify Gaddafi and justify their cause! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13165183 (38 seconds in)

Maybe I'm just a cynic but it must be very wet out there for those things to rust so quiickly.
Of course the rules are not the same for the Rebel fighters who are modifying RPG's and filling them with metal fragments in order to cause as much injury as possible to those around when they explode!
