Tbh the main thing that gets me is that he was killed 'resisting arrest' by a headshot? Call me crazy but that sounds like an execution, and more to the point, USA would surely have taken him alive at any cost?

dont see why, they acknowledged years ago forcing him into hiding pretty much ended his effective day to day running of his groups and that he was merely a figurehead so to be honest, you might as well execute him, avoids trials and the like.

The whole 'buried at sea' thing just sounds like an excuse for them to not properly show the body. Could be anything from he's alive and in US custody or he is genuinely dead

Well yes he was almost certainly armed himself, but 'resisting arrest' and 'headshot' sound slightly too specific.

I noticed this wording in Obama's speech:

"After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

After the firefight? I think it's quite likely that the troops were told not to take him alive because it would be a diplomatic/security nightmare and shot him as soon as he was identified.

Iraq was supported by many Americans regardless of the original intention and false claims. To claim that a man who murdered 3000 civilians in the largest terrorist attack in US history was dead, only for him to stick out his head and say "peek-a-boo" would be a HUGE embarrassment for Obama and no American would be able to stand behind him and say, "Oh well. I still supported your move to announce his death." With Iraq, people could still say, "You're attacking the enemy (right or wrong)... You've overthrown a despicable dictator..." etc.

What possible excuse could Americans make for their Commander-in-Chief if this turned out to be wrong?

My mistake. But I stand by the comparisson to the destruction of Hitler's remains.

If anything it's the other way around. The claim that Iraq had WMD being falsified, was evidence enough for a lot of people, that the ivasion was for the goverments own agenda and that they had lied.

Were Obama to be found lying on this occasion, then it's to no detriment or cost of the people (as opposed to before which cost thousands of troops their lives and started a war many didn't want). They can simply say they got the identity wrong and issue an apology.

However, i doubt he will raise his head. Imo he's either already been dead for years, he's still living cushty somewhere secretly in an arrangment with the US - or they really did kill him recently but not how they're saying and only for voter/people confidence in the progression of the war and military mobilising into other territories yet to come.

I don't get how Pakistan is somehow being accused of knowing he was there all along. 60 miles doesn't mean a thing if you aren't drawing attention to yourself. If he had large quantities of arms and people travelling to him then perhaps but I don't get how they could've known.
