Osama bin Laden is dead - no graphic/violent images.

Just watched a bit of the latest White House statement from Carney on CNN, grabed this from the BBC

White House spokesman Jay Carney says US operatives moved into Pakistan with a "great deal of confidence". He adds Bin Laden's location had been known for a "long time".

Fascinating.

That is the markets. I actually mean the people as a whole. They should feel happier, have a better outlook and be a bit looser with their wallets.

Whilst I think the vast majority of us are glad he's dead it's not going to be enough to make us all link hands and start singing 'Somewhere over the rainbow' :D

No it isn't? Many of them happened a long time ago.

What? You don't think 9/11 completely changed the western world?

It isn't always that simple to some people.

I don't understand why it isn't? If you're going to 'stand up' for your people sure as hell don't give the entire world a reason to really, really hate them.

What happened to Dr. King's way of doing things? Since I get to choose where I sit on a bus it obviously worked ;).

The 'persecuted muslims' angle.

Its not a persecuted muslims angle.

Its a persecuted populations angle.

They just happen to be muslim.

Persecuted populations will eventually grasp at the ones who offer hope, no matter how bad they may seem, communists in russia, biggest example, they offered the people persecuted by the russian elite of the time an alternative that was taken.

On the muslim front Osama offered to unite muslim people against the west who propped up bad government in the middle east, its like a maniacs rule of thumb, find a cause the common man will follow blindly and wait for the sheep to come to your door.

Did not work on the same scale as communism but drew in enough disenchanted people to cause a lot of damage on a global front.

No not really. It hasn't really effected me at all, for example.

The reality is young men are attracted to these groups, we can sit and debate the lack of validity in their actions and rule from our perspective but it doesn't change the reality much.

Fascinating.

I think he should have said "suspected location had been known for months".

I don't think they knew he was there for certain until they actualy hit the place.

well at least they updated this fbi most wanted list

Not going by the terror alerts, its kind of just stayed ballanced rather than move in any significant direction, with the oil price move it may push people to be more cautious, oil price go's up so dose everything that has to be moved, which these days is just about everything.

There once was a man called Osama,
Who caused a whole lot of drama.
He didn't behave, so we blew up his cave
And the credit now goes to Obama.

I can’t believe that you are being serious. No, only when the death of the most wanted terrorist in the world is announced.

Yes it's different and perfectly acceptable after what he was repsonsible for and after what they have been through. It’s people just being patriotic, celebrating for the future and trying to lay to rest a very painful memory. What do you expect them to do lurk inside and be afraid of offending someone like they would do here.

Like it makes the slightest bit of difference. Yes he ordered 9/11, something that the US never shuts up about. Its not as if they're cutting the head off the snake and now Al-Qaeda are simply going to wither away and die. They've taken 10 years to finally track him down and its not really an uncommon belief that he's been dead for years anyway.

He's just an idol for everyone to hate. He's not significant in any way, shape or form. He was significant, 10 years ago, now he's just a loose end.

His second-in-command was said to be the main part behind the whole terrorism etc and Bin Laden was just the figure-head. The second in command will now take over and like others I think things will escalate in another act of terrorism, just because Bin Laden is dead doesnt mean anything, al Qaeda will be hoping the US and UK now let their gaurd down which is something I think will happen. People forget that 1 person isn't a terrorism group, its the group itself, remove 1 person from the equation and it just makes room for someone else :(

So what if terrorism didn't end the millisecond that fateful full metal jacket round passed through his body? He's progress. He's the face of global terror. He's better off dead.

Maybe some deluded muslim 'brothers' in university who are considering going fully radicalized will look at this news and think twice before commit their lives and the lives of whoever who happened to get tied up in their **** for a pointless crusade that they aren't ever going to win. They're just giving the Muslims and Asians that aren't ***** a very, very bad name.
