UEFA Champions League Final - Manchester United vs. Barcelona

**** off. He was tripped and had his shirt pulled. Gattuso should have been sent off.

Not to mention we were denied a pen in the first half at 1-0.

Rotty, I would like to bring you to the attention of this blatant use of foul language towards another member.

Someones got to :p

On a serious note for a minute, I'm confident too. Far more than I can remember being in my life time anyway.

Whether it's an exaggeration to the fact that our previous owners, Roy and Cecil are gone, I don't know but things are on the up.

You getting number 19 is far more bearable than it would have been this time last year, that's for sure.

You're forgetting who I support :p

Sorry, but unless someone puts Messi off the pitch in the first 5 minutes Man U don't stand a chance. I'll happily eat my words if they win, but I think the only way is if Messi is dead or crippled tbh.

I have respect for Man U for reaching the final and they are playing some good stuff (for the most part) this season, but Barcelona are something else at the moment, certainly with Messi fit.

He really isn't that instrumental away from the nou camp. He's still a massive threat but both times we played barca at the emirates he's been a passenger (by his standards). Not to mention that united are much tighter than real/arsenal so I can see them nicking a 1-0 win or similar.

While I agree with that, Ferdinand isn't as mobile as he once was, Vidic can be drawn into making needless challenges and whoever they play RB could be targeted; the twins like a tackle a bit too much and O'Shea is O'Shea.

Regardless of their defense, you can't rely on stopping their front 3. You've got to stop their service, starting from the very back. Sky praised Valdes last night for his passing out of the back but he looks hugely suspect with the ball at his feet and Barca always look like playing themselves into trouble at the back; their saving grace being that teams are too afraid to press them high up the pitch to take advantage of it.

Rooney's going to have to work his *******s off and Utd can't afford to leave him isolated.

For me our team for the final has to be:

--------------Rooney-------
Park---------------------------Nani
------Anderson-----Fletcher
-------------Carrick
Evra-----Vidic------Rio------Rafael

With Hernandez/Valencia coming on depending how things are going.

I suspect that it will be Giggs for Anderson, O'Shea for Rafael and Valencia for Nani in the above formation though.

As for the Valencia vs Nani thing, i think Valencia is more consistent, but nowhere near as good. 4 or 5 times he was too slow getting the cross in and ended up against the left back and left winger (and let's face it, he was a pretty average left back). In that situation he lost the ball nearly everytime (he got a freekick early on) where as with Nani he has the skill to beat 1/2 and perhaps get a cross in. Nani was excellent for the third goal too.

In a one-off game I think MU have a chance, especially as Barca's record in England is pretty poor.

They are one of the most frightening teams I've seen though, I've literally never seen Arsenal dominated like that by any other side. Best footballing team since at least mid-90s Ajax I'd say (bit OT but I always thought it was a bit tragic how quickly that team got broken up).

Liverpool won losts of trophies
Manchester United won losts of trophies

I dont really think its fare to bring up United success now when in the 70/80s they won **** all,

2 great teams, different eras, Both Barca and Man United going for the 4th European Cup
