Shift 2 Unleashed - Time Trial Championship Season 1

Well with ABS you can get away with maxing out the brake pressure.

I know but I just feel like its kind of cheating a bit! Not having a go at anyone so please don't take it personally I just prefer to know the time I have lapped was me and just me, not with any kind of aid at all.

I know not everyone feels the same way but that's just me. ;)

This time below was set with a big cut in the last sector, i ran to wide at 130R so the last sector time is an example of how fast you can go with a cut.

This time below was done with a legit last sector, video is converting now so will upload later.

so wait a second.. people with no autolog can still join the comp? i don't see a rule against it.. :/

Sorry but personally I'd say no, only because screen shots can be altered and also imply that the game your running may be pirated.

I don't make the rules though so I'm not sure if it is ok.

Hhmmm, ok so are the times you are submitting with cutting corners? Is this an acceptable practice if the game has not taken your time away?

The first picture in my post was from running wide at 130R (fast left hander before the last chicane) which the game did not see as cutting but it is because your going flatout and losing hardly any speed but the autolog counts it as a legal which it isn't, the last 2 pictures in my post are from a legal lap (see video below).

Nice lap, Which time will you be submitting!! LOL

I'm still amazed at how smooth it all looks, I know this car is quite easy to handle but Its baffling me why I seem to have to drive the car much harder while you just waft along! No hint of under or oversteer, no opposite lock, nothing! Me Confused

Tbh the video does lie, i am fighting the car quite abit but it looks like in the replays the driver movement seems to be not what i am feeling.

Sector 1 - there is big understeer there but you need to be driving to feel it
Sector 2 - you have to wait to get on the throttle because coming of the kerbs can throw the rear out (your sector 2 time is 3 tenths faster than mine anyway, less downforce might be helping you?)
Sector 3 - it's all down to how much speed you can carry on the exit of 130R

Fair play! If I get another decent lap in sometime this week I will try and remember to save the replay and we can compare. ;)

If I remember right I can take 130R at full speed but the speed scrubbs off to around 155 on a good lap and 151 on an average lap before picking back up again. Does that sound about right?

I am running reasonably high downforce but not maxed out.

Do you use high camber?

"Highish about 3 on front 4 on rear but it depends on track really"

Not sure what you mean there! Isn't 3 / 4 really low? Or is that degrees?

Mine is like on 30 to 40 on the slider! Didn't think it told you the degree

Haven't played this for a few days, I was getting vaguely closer earlier in the week but since Steam got the patch tonight I can't seem to get anywhere near - I'm over 3 seconds slower than I was pre-patch. I feel like I'm driving the same, maybe slightly slower but not 3 seconds slower.

Not sure if I need to re-install Juls' mod, the handling feels fine tbh & the dinput8.dll file is still there in the install dir. What's everyone else's experience of the patch?

After turn 1, are you guys braking at all the next 4 or 5 corners in sector 1, or just pulling the car round without braking?

Afaik, Juls' mod tweaked the tyre sidewall physics to react faster to steering input, which gave you a bit more grip & quicker lap times.

The patch will overwrite the 2 physics.bff files that juls changed, which means no extra grip / slower lap times.

No idea what else reinstalling it will break though as I haven't done it myself.
