A mate of mine magned to craft one of the new hats in tf2 cause he was one of the first ones to do so it has a #1 at the end of it. People have offerd him 600$ and another offer of a 1000$. Its crazy consdering you can buy exactly the same hat without the #1 in the name for 5 pounds in the store.

I'm not sure how serious them offers are but another mate of mine sold a hat for over 100 pounds.

Just wonderd what peoples thoughts on this are and whats the most you seen or heard about a in game item sold for.

My thoughts as well, i cant belive something thats not real is worth so much money to some people when i have spend the past 2-3 months scrimping and saving to get my new pc.

I told him he should get as much money for it as he can and buy a new pc :D a few saying he should keep it though

I wish i was more switched on when it comes to this sort of thing some serious money to be made it seems.

I remember something from WoW back during the second expansion when Illidan was the final boss and he dropped legendary twin blades and the first guy to get them both sold his account for thousands but it then got banned by blizzard. That's probably not the correct version of events but I can't be arsed to search for it.

I sold my World of Warcraft character just after WOTLK was announced for 100 quid to a mate (I wanted a quick sale). It's a shame because if I had sold it just a couple months earlier I could have got up to a grand for the gear that was on him.

I can understand people paying for the mmo stuff as it takes 100's and 1000's of hours to get that stuff in most cases.

TF2 went downhill fast once the Beta ended. Shame it wasn't left as it was then.
I 100% agree the more stuff the have added the worse its got, but they making so much money from selling the items they just gonna keep adding more and more stuff.

Another guy i know has designed some of the hats and weapons for tf2 last i heard from him hes made like 60000 $ on it he gets a 25% royalty on all items sold made by him

Back during the Age of Conan pre release madness, I was placing pre orders everywhere for all the different bonuses and then cancelling after I got the bonus item keys.

I picked up a wooly mammoth and rhino mounts from US stores that would only work in the US, so I decided to Ebay them.

I got around £40 for one, and £60 for the other! Madness.

Then again I bought the whole collection of GW1 skill pins on Ebay for £80 ..... I'll try ebaying them again a few weeks before GW2 is released as the full skill pin set is an uber rare collectible now, it might get over £150.

The real e-peen winners are the ones that own shoddy mmo's with item shops, I've known people spend £100's a week for in-game items/consumables trying to be the best at old isometric mmo's. They make silly money.

I've spent about £30-60 PER YEAR on FTP games, and generally think I am getting my moneys worth from them, but that much a week is just sad :(
