You die, your body doesn't have the ability to sustain life that causes you to move, breath and make concious decisions.
Your personality that you have developed from your learnings in life and a small portion of that from your parents DNA is gone forever. Your body was only used as a medium to convey your thoughts, to feel pain, to express emotion and feel pleisure, all of which was a products of the matter in the Universe and by chance, and living on this planet we have come to be humans that have developed into a form that has enabled us to be intelligent and be the hunter, not the hunted in this world.
After you're dead, all this ceases to exist.

Those who believe in a life after death may not make the most out of their life, as they expect to be repented and given a second chance upon death. Those that believe that their existence is only for the period from birth to their death will try make more chances in life, experience more and make the most out of it, as for them, it's the only chance they've got.

This is what I believe also.

I don't believe there is a heaven and hell (there might be, who knows...) but I don't think there is just "nothing" either. It's probably something wayyyy beyond our understanding.

I think that is a perfect example of why the idea of Heaven came about, people hate the idea of nothing, the idea of just becoming "nothing" scares to many people who need to think there is "something". I see death as the same as being in the dark. People don't like the dark because they can't "see" what is out there, same with death.
