***Supreme Commander 2 on OcUK***

I was on the verge of those boomerangs which I probably would have built in time. You would have been screwed though.

Shame it was so buggy tonight, first game was going so well and the second looked like it was going to be decent enough as well (if exceedingly long).

Yeah first game was anyones guess... we might've pulled it back but we might've been wiped out in short order. I completely messed up my teching after my first few attacks. I really need to remember that Fatboy are bleeding useless for transporting into bases.

I think we had Link and Tefal in the first, though they had a very large attack force. If we had got them that would have left only Squark and Pookie who we should have been able to take out even considering Pookie's large airforce.

As it was 4 v 3 i purposefully said "im doing research and getting nukes as fast as possible" on mumble and just hoped that no one attacked me, and if you had then link and pookie had units building either side :p

No one gets anti nukes that early in the game so it was a garunteed winning tactic, i was abotu to fire at tefal until he went boom, then as soon as i fired at you you bent boom :( .....purposefully didn't fire at antar for fear of boomerangs :D

EDIT: oh i quoted antar, i was meant to quote evil :p

Lol, well i saw the nukes fire, heading at me and just decided to quit. Would've tried to stick around and fight it out but that de-sync popup every 5 seconds was just doing my head in. Would've been impossible to rebuild and attack at the same time. Had about 5 AC-1000s and 40 Gunships. Map was just too big.

You should have seen the nukes land, you still had the shells of destroyed buildings there and the nukes destroyed your entire energy production and entire unit production, you'd have been left with a few AC-1000s and maybe the commander if he got out of the way in time :D

It was a pretty lame tactic but then so was tefals cheeky base hugging 30seconds in yesterday :p

Yeah, me and Squark weren't gonna put up much of a defence, but I did have 92 fighter/bombers and 4 experimental gunships heading for you :D

That popup was a pain in the backside. I wonder what was causing it.

As for the map being too big - I don't think that's a problem - it didn't stop you taking out Squark in 15 minutes :D

Pff, 3 of you should be able to counter that, spam him with mobile missile launchers and a few tanks to deter the commander from going forwards to attack them and the factory can't stop you destroying the shield. Both times he did that he had practically no base to fall back to so you'd probably of finished him off easily once you countered the factory.

You just all kept wasting your mass on bombers but they suck for breaking through shields :p

Squark took himself out by walking into the captured engineers who had built several Point Defences, i don't think that really counts :p

The way to counter nukes like that is to build a few boomerangs and anti-nukes, instead of wasting all ur mass, energy and research on air...

Honestly evil, the nuke tactic is not any worse than Tefal's early commander attack tactic, because you can only really counter it if you know for sure it's coming (in both cases), which is why they work. Just because you had a lamish tactic used against you, you start complaining.

Heard of the term like for like? :p

Not sure why the games were so buggy last night, may have been BT being odd with their net connection. It usually works fine, but occasionally we seem to have problems. :(

What connection are you on, Link? I'm only 20mbps down and 2 mbps up, so maybe I could try hosting? My PC can handle that many units no worries, it's just the 'net that might struggle. I can give it a go later, see how it works.

i think thats why the aeon missile defence unit costs so much research, if i was uef or cybran defending missile attack would be no problem, but also i couldn't do anywhere neat as much damage as with the cheap and accurate aeon tactical missile launcher with uef short range artillery.

I am up for a game pretty much any time today. So if anyone one wants a game let us know :)

After playing some skirmishes, I can now confirm that these maps are far too small for my liking.

The game is ok but between the small maps (this is my biggest gripe by far), lack of depth to the units and buildings and the new resource system, it's a poor successor to the original. I'll keep playing cos the MP is fun enough, but the more I play, the more disappointing it is.

Supreme Commander was far superior to this but the online system was such a pain in the rear end to get working.

I'm tempted to get Total Annihilation which is on offer on gog at the moment.... I wonder what the MP is like on that.

Tempted by this. I play World of Tanks with some people from here and they're a great bunch. Supreme Commander was great, and ganging up on an AI sounds like my idea of RTS fun :D

So who is up for a game in a while? Don't know what time you guys usually play. But seems usually between 9-10pm.

ACUrush is easily countered if people actually do it properly. All it needs is another factory built to oppose it once you see it (which is why Radars need to be built early on) and to build mobile missile launchers to destroy it from completely out of range of the defences. Not to mention there are 3 of you. What happened mostly to counter it were completely useless squadrons of Bombers which tended to get shot down before they could even complete a second attack. All it needed was the right counter and Tefal would be pretty much out of the game as all his resources went into the forward base.

Compared to playing on probably the largest map in the game while 1 person sits there tech rushing to nukes (he launched 2 by 18 minutes) because scouting effectively to find the threat was almost impossible.

It was awesome - truly amazing. It's just like SC1, but not as pretty. Sadly, sorting a MP game was just as much of a pain in the arse as the original SC.

I used the LAN option through Hamachi if there were any connection issues (which were infrequent in my experience). Didn't really have a problem setting up a custom game via GPGnet.
