Would you do the swap

It's amazing how money seems to breed idiots. Sorry DM, but I'd tell her that if she wants to swap her car, she can go and save up for the difference in price, or at best, make her save half and then match the rest.

For someone who is meant to know a fair bit about prestige marques, why would you drop £24k on a car tha's almost a decade old, as had little or no fresh ups and in terms of design, is 15 years old??

The design of the CLK is not 15 years old, the design is a decade old.

Obvious answer here is to giver her your SL500 Mark. ;) Rather more flash than shes probably expecting! You get the dad points and also get that BMW to sell in exchange for a car which only dropped you 15k. She gets a car in a total different league to anything else mentioned here. Everyones a winner.

No, the car itself is 9 years old, almost 10. Do you think they "designed" it the year before, no, it was several years before going to actual production, like most cars.

So you think the design of the outgoing CLK dates from 1996? The year the first ever CLK itself was first introduced?

You don't half post some rubbish.

Why not, the E39 for example started life in 1996. When was it designed? Oh yes, design was complete in 1990-1991.

The E60 was designed at the turn of the millenium and the F10 was designed in 2005/6.

Why would Mercedes vision not adopt the same process?

Because it's a load of rubbish that you've just made up? Design of the E39 was complete in 1990? lol

What did they do for the next 6 years then, twiddle the thumbs?

The E60's design was completed in 2002. The E39's design was completed in 1995. I suspect the CLK's design was completed in 2001. Cars are brought to market as soon after the design is complete as is reasonably possible - you wouldnt want your design to go stale before you've even announced it.

Using your logic, BMW finished designing the E60 in 1998, lol

Got any more gems for us? Perhaps Apple finished designing the ipod years before it came out as well :D
