**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I've just started watching an awesome series on youtube: When Cheese Fails. Its basically people submitting replays of cheese tactics failing to LaG TV who then cast the replay. They sort our the rubbish ones and don't cast them (Except in Season 2 where they did a cold cast marathon, loading games at random and just casting them whatever happenes).

Worth a watch, I think, and the two guys doing it are great.

:D

I'm going to have to watch the rest of these now. Curse you! :D

First of all: this. I'm much better at hit and run guerilla tactics and ending the battle soon. I always, without fail, lose if the battle goes on too long against a human opponent. I haven't taken the game online yet though :D

Hi folks - new to the game (had it a few days) but I've picked it up reasonably well so far. I have an experienced friend teaching me the ropes, and while my strategies are solid, my macro is a bit crap :D

You think 70 minutes is bad? I had a free for all with my friend who's better at end game than me, mixed in with some hard and very hard AIs (8 of us) that went on for over 2 hours :D I was mentally drained after that one, and still lost :D

That is crazy... Unless if 5 or 6 players died very early, surely you should have run out of minerals much much earlier? In a 1v1, there's normally a good 5 or 6 bases each at least, and the map starts running out of bases within around 30-40 minutes

Finally caved and grabbed it from Tesco since I get my staff discount, probably the cheapest I'll be able to get it for a while.

Plot wise, how important is it to have played the original? I'm currently on the last Zerg mission for the original, not got to the expansion yet. Part of me thinks I should finish the original first before going onto SC2, but the other half says wait because there's half a game of plot I've not seen yet.

It doesn't really matter at all. The story of the first game is talked about throughout the sc2 campaign. Even the SC2 install screen has a massive backstory in what happened.

i never played the original

Having a fun time in Gold, annoyingly getting a lot more all ins than in Silver, just had a guy double hatch ling rush me off one base, annoying sod told me as he was attacking "Sorry I needed a quick game", to cut long story short I lost pretty much everything but built some canons and he ended up with a 25 minute game, yes I lost but I feel anyone who thinks they should be able to guarantee a quick win or that they somehow deserve it should be punished.

Oh and I'm also really starting to get bored with Colossus, they are just....so....dull.

agreed!!!!! :D

I've pretty much worked out my gameplan for PvT, which involves transitioning through colossi to templar. Means they're still there for dealing with bioballs, but I can still do fun stuff when i'm on 4 bases and 16 gateways...:D

PvZ I really want to go back to trying immortal/templar builds. After hearing Idra give the unit composition a thumbs up on SOTG, I'm confident I can work something stable out. Should be much more fun than constant colossi..

Will be good when exams are over and i can actually play this game again -.-

sC vs. NesTea

Probably the greatest best of five I've ever seen, NesTea is an incredible zerg player.

Sadly only the first game is available for free on gomtv, the rest require a $9.99 subscription. Still, epic games, definitely need to be seen.

how about you put the spoiler tag before you say sth like that?

i'm still on the round of 32. i'm not asking you to speak in code or not to say anything at all. just add the spoiler tag it's not that hard.

I didn't think it was necessary given the fact I didn't mention any result, I didn't say anything like "omg game four was epic" which would give away how many games were played even.

Anyway, I'll spoiler future stuff.

I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with a 5870 and Catalyst 11.4c and the display driver stops responding every minute or two in Starcraft 2.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Anyone bought a new card because they've had issues with SC2?

So ****king bored of getting proxy rushed by protoss - is that the only tactic people use these days??

No matter how much I scout in/around my base there always seems to be a proxy pylon hidden away somewhere and then within 7 mins - 8 stalkers appear at my base - game over.

Just so frustrating - not sure if it's just me but since season 2 started - it just seems to be one massive rush game these days - so bored of 1 v 1's at the moment.

I'm by no means a great player - i was number 1 in bronze with 1700 before reset and i just can't seem to win a game since season 2 started.

Just having a rant! - sorry!
