Is this a shed?

No you pillock! - 76 miles per week - 4k p/a :p:D

Ohhh, I use it to drive to school
And I don't think i'll manage 5k, I think, the average increased on the Road Trip app because I did about 5-6 motorway trips this last 2 week school break.
Not to mention I've only been driving for 2 months, so that probably heavily affected the average.

But I could change it for the sake of the screenshot, if there was a single page with this information, I would be happy to show you..

And if you can take my word, it shows I'm 17, held license for less than a year, obtained 31.01.2011 and another additional driver, who lives away for most of the year who has held his license for a year, and the main driver who has held his license for over 9 years and has more than 5 years NCB.
Well, that explains it then. So, I take it you'll drive the car far less than the main driver? Otherwise, it's called fronting, it's illegal and has the potential to get you into a load of trouble.

Ah, so you're fronting?

Excellent.

Of course, I only use it to drive to school :D
(We told the guy on the phone exactly how we would use the car when buying our current insurance, and it came up about £100 more than when I tried getting a quote online for it)

Come off it!

You'll average 76 miles on your drive to school if your anything like I was at that age! :D

You seriously mean to say @ 17 your going to have a 5 series that'll just sit on your drive and only goto school & back?

I managed 19k in my first car - a 1.1 Ford Fiesta - in my first year, crashing it 4 times too iirc.

Think again!

But if you only use it to drive to school, then surely you're going to be using it more than the other driver as you're driving it every day? They can't drive it when it's parked outside school can they?

I probably will use it more than the main driver, but we told this to the person on the phone giving us insurance and it didn't make much difference, if it doesn't bother them, it's all good? :D

And yeah I don't use it much apart from to and from school, I get dropped off to places I haven't been to before (yeah I know, treated like a baby and not taught all the real life lessons etc..).

I reckon if you ask a few more questions you might be able to get bank details and everything. :)

While the insurance man may say "yep, no bother, put down another person as the main driver but it'll actually be you driving it mainly" that doesn't mean you wouldn't have issues should a claim arise - they shouldn't tell you that it's ok as they're almost not telling the truth in order to make the sale but it's possible they'd make the statement and leave you to worry about what happens in the event of a claim.

While I understand that it might be very appealing to look at everything from the perspective of things going well it's much more prudent to assume they won't. Your car may go through the next few years with nothing more than services and basic consumables but if it doesn't then it opens up a fair amount of potentially expensive work on what is still a premium brand.

No, £4k per year including fuel.

Can you not read?

Fuel isn't included in 'total running costs'

Thats why the grand total is £16k - because thats the only total that includes fuel.

The bold bit is important.

If they're not the main driver - as in the person who will be driving it the most -then that's called fronting and it's fraud. Insurance providers are hot on this and your policy won't be worth the the paper the certificate is printed on.

:Edit: It turns out I took about 10 minutes to read the thread have been beaten by far quicker posters, :p

Seriously, I can guarantee that you'll use it all the time. Speaking as someone who had a similar kind of car as their first car, I can say for certain that you'll practically want to live in it. Picking up your mates in a BMW is always better than getting your mum to take you all home, and with the kind of mileage you'll clock up, the chances of an accident are pretty high. Please just be sensible and keep the astra or get something similar, then buy a 5 series when you can afford to insure one as a main driver. You can't even begin to imagine how screwed you'll be if you have an accident and the company finds out you're fronting.

If I drive it slightly more than the main driver, how would they know?
It doesn't mean if the car crashes, it would have to be the main driver driving it?

So if DM's daughter was posting instead of him, you'd disregard the thread the same way?

I know it's not a 20k car, but are the circumstances not similar?

(I hope I haven't got Joshy logic at this point haha)
