Chin up OP, it's just a number - had mine this year, no party (didn't feel like one after losing my Dad in October) - but being 30 hasn't bothered me one little bit, only as old as the woman you feel etc etc... so I'm 29 for now

False. You could die today/tomorrow or at any point in those 11 years so he's actually in a better position because he has lived longer than you already.

enjoy yourself its later than you think.
Im 39 but thankfully have not matured (read this as not become a bore or 'old man') as of yet, in fact im just still enjoying my teens as it happens.
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional, so just crack right on and enjoy life with little worry for the numbers.

Its only a number, you will be the same the day after so why worry.
I spent my 30th in Bologna and my 40th in Barbados just so I could spend a great time with family members, any other birthday doesn't count so I dont bother to really celebrate it...suggest something similar perhaps
