Does anyone have any experience with flying with Delta Airlines? I am flying on a London Heathrow to Atlanta route.

Just want to know if anyone has any personal experience with this airline?

They have planes, some old, some new, they'll feed you on the plane, it will be generic airline food.

What more is there?

(I've flown 1000's of miles per year for years with Delta)

they are rubbish but then again so are all the transatlantic economy carriers so you may as well use them as anyone else :p

My main worry with being a tall guy is leg room. But I am guessing it is going to be awful whatever airline I take? Unless I can get an exit row which I guess costs more?

Delta are one of the best for transatlantic seat pitch and also my frequent flyer program of choice (miles never expire). I really like them, and always find their staff friendly and helpful.

I flew transatlantic with them a couple of months ago, flights were fine, seats weren't particularly great for leg room, had personal entertainment systems in Economy so got some reasonable choices for films.

i guess i am one of the unlucky ones, I will never be giving them any money again, terrible customer service, still waiting for a reply to a complaint made last year (guess i'll be waiting a while!)
maybe if you don't have any connections booked with them or want any in-flight entertainment they might be ok...

I'm pretty sure Delta fly to Atlanta from Gatwick?

They fly to ATL from both.

Delta aren't bad. Not great but not bad. For the fares they offer at times they are certainly not to be sniffed at. A trans-Atlantic Delta flight is somewhat like purgatory. It's not unpleasant but it's not particularly pleasant either. What sucks is they fly from T4 at Heathrow.

I used to be a frequent flyer with them but switched to United.

Why does this suck? I'm flying from T4 on Delta next week!

Personal preference more than anything. I don't like the ambience of the terminal, the security lines are usually ridiculous at the times I fly and the immigration lines are even moreso. I much prefer T1.

Like Delta, it's not bad but it's not great either :p

I have flown with them 5 or 6 times and they are rubbish. The staff don't really give a monkeys and every seat I've sat in has been broken in some way, shape or form.

Avoid!

Trans-Atlantic or domestic? If trans-Atlantic, was it in an A330 or B767?
I used them quite a bit and never experienced a broken seat and the cabin crew were no different than any other US airline. On long haul US carrier routes you can't expect the beers and blow jobs to be flowing from the cabin crew. They work on seniority and often have the oldest and grumpiest crew on those routes.

There pretty cheap and nasty, if your flying alone then you could try and get a free upgrade when booking in.

That's just not going to happen in anything other than exceptional circumstances, especially on LHR-ATL which usually has a high number of Skymiles Elites on board.
