What tyres shall I get?

Going for the PE2's! Thinking it through it really shouldn't affect the handling much on that. Once the fronts have worn then they will also goto 195/50 PE2's. If you think about it a new tyre has about 6mm radius difference to one on the legal limit, and the difference between 195/55 and 195/50 radius is 9.8mm. So overall not a too large a change.

Got it Thursday. It is a 1999 UKDM in white, stock except for uprated front pads. Will make a thread once I am driving it, as insurance is being annoying so having to wait til late May! So I am getting the alloys refurbed so getting the rear tyres swapped at the same time as they are running fairly low.
 
Yes but first the increased price, but also I wanted something that wasn't going to wear out too quickly. In other words I wanted a more well rounded tyre.
 
Now all the fun of finding someone who will fit them for you and not charge the earth!

Find someone with a costco card and wait for their 20% off tyres events is best, better priced than the interweb then.
 
I don't need to worry about that, for a start I know where to go to get 2 fitted for £10 cash. Secondly I will get the people who are refurbing the wheels to fit them instead of refitting the old tyres.

PE2s will last MUCH longer than those on the road!

I have around 30k road miles and two track days on my set, and there's still a fair amount of tread left on them. :cool:
 
I went from 195/50/15 KU31's, had a puncture in my old set of tyres and needed 4 new tyres quickly, so opted for these

They are a great tyre on the car, but my fronts wore down to ~1mm in 9000 miles

Replaced all 4 with 195/55/15 Michelin PE2

4x KU31 in 50 were £150 fitted
4x PE2 in 55 were £370, had them fitted and balanced on my refurbed alloys for next to nothing




Personally, I'd keep the front and back on the same profile (and tyre)
 
interested to hear KU31 vs PE2 views bledd.

I've no doubts the PE2 will be better, but are they worth more than double the cost of the KU31?
 
I don't understand why everyone seems to love the KU31's so much at the minute? I have some on my Celica and they are a distinctively average tyre at acceptable price. I can only assume it is due the whole new tyres so loads better than old worn tyre placebo effect.
 
If I could interject. Unless the Integra has been lowered then I think 195/50/15 tyres make the car look noddy, the wheel/tyre combo is to small and the lines get messed up.

I've got 205/50/15 Hankook RS2's, and other then being a dam good tyre (I had RE010's to compare) think Integra's look much better on these.

+ the 'wow I can buy tyres for loads less money, they have to be good, right? Bceause then I can justify the purchase on grounds other than 'because I wanted to spend less'. And because this thought process is entirely a pyschological thing people don't realise they do, they'll fight to the death to deny it :p

I'm not sure what your question is. Am I not allowed to show an interest in something unless I want to buy it?

It's like you and noting down train numbers in your spare time, it's something you have an interest in. You've never planned on actually going out and buying a train, have you?
