Alright guys,

It's my brother in laws birthday and he loves games. I bought him a copy of Operation Flashpoint Red River for the xbox 360 as the reviews were good and he fancied it. I said whatever game he gets I'll get to play multiplayer. We got a copy each for £38.00 and I paid. We have played it co-op and my god, it's the worst game I think I have ever played! It's simply terrible, boring, no atmosphere and just has no fun! The ai doesnt respond and it's crap!

After 1:30hours playing the campaign we gave up due to sheer boredom!

I wanted to know where we stand at returning the games and exchanging for something decent or a refund?

I wouldn't normally do this but it was £80 for two soon to be coasters!

Thanks guys!

Doubt they'll refund it if you've already opened up the game. They can't resell that.

So you didnt like it - thats a shame but it's not really up to the retailer to give you a full refund for your now second hand goods. What are they supposed to do with it?

I understand that and I normally wouldn't do it but its the worst birthday present ever. To be honest you don't feel like you do a lot on the game. It feels unfinished and poorly executed.

I know I shoulnt but do they accept returns on faulty games an give refunds. I'm half tempted to say the two games are both faulty and keep saying unreadable disc. Say we bought two more copies from blockbuster, which is round the corner and was intending on returning the faulty copies to tesco for a refund in the morning

Take one back at a time and say it's faulty. If you take both back at once it'll look suspicious. They may only give you store credit though.

I took Forza 2 back to another supermarket chain the day after I bought it because my Xbox kept throwing up read errors, but then I asked to swap it for another copy.

If they won't accept, try and trade them in at a high street gaming store. You may end up only losing a small amount of money.

Lol, unlikely.

I am pretty sure they are fully within their rights to just give you a replacement if it is faulty. The excuse that you were too impatient so went and bought another copy won't fly with them.

These days you can usually take stuff back and they'll give you a refund with no questions asked.

Or rather, they'll ask the reason, so they've got something to put on the paperwork, but you could probably say "I didn't like the font on the end credits" and they'd still give you your monies back. :)

LOL @ The suggestions of fraud.

Idiots.

You bought something. You played it. You didnt like it. Deal with it.

What you gunna do next, buy a different kind of bread take out a few slices then take it back because you dont like the taste?

Returns are there for a reason and this is not it.

Most large chains would probably honour that return, assuming you weren't doing it every week.

When I worked at M&S we refunded a woman who brought back an 11 year old suit (with no reciept).

Why? All in the name of good customer service.

The two aren't really comparable though are they?

Sadly media is handled very differently to other items etc. etc.

go to your kitchen , inspect the labeling on a lot of your foods most will tell you if your not entirely happy bla bla bla.

why should games be any difference? a crap product is a crap product and should be treated as such.

most games are a complete lie on the adverts.. now they arent allowed to pass CGI off as actual gameplay so they have taken to editing the audio and using real world audio instead

Yeah I wondered about that. I've come accross strict returns policys with phones before, but not games, yet. Aren't they supposed to warn you when you purchase it that "this item has X returns policy" if it's different to their usual returns policy?

But anyway, OP: Asking Tesco > asking GD. :p

To be fair it isn't acceptable releasing botched products.

It may be the industry standard in certain sections, but you should have the option of some sort of redress.

I'm surprised you even played for over an hour, think I gave up with it after about 20 minutes.

I personally would just put it in ebay and live with the losses.

I will post an update of of how it goes tomorrow.

Just going to say it says its unreadable, won't mention it's a complete an utter disgrace it's £38.00 and it's a unfinished product which isn't what it says it is.

I will just say both copies wouldn't work and must be a faulty batch and as a result I purchased another two copies from blockbuster across the road, which is £8 cheaper, and they work fine...

Wish me luck, I feel awful for my brother in law. He didn't want to say anything but I turned to him and said: "what the he'll is this, what do you think... I'm playing it because I want to like it but i can't!" he said: "I didn't want to say anything but it's terrible isn't it!?"

Hmmmmph

And so called "pirates" grab the headlines  You said yourself you read the reviews, deal with your poorly thought out purchase.
