Personally, I think that the 107 looks ugly, but for £5695 brand new, surely this is the cheapest new car on the market?

62.7 combined mpg doesn't sound bad either.

It shares the same platform at the Toyota Aygo, and was mainly engineered by Toyota. 1L engine and insurance group 1E? Good for the first time drivers and school drop offs I guess.

You can get better cars second hand for cheaper, just showing the falling prices of these city cars that seem to be growing in popularity.

I've no idea how cheap a Fiat Panda is now but they are about the same price and I'd rather have one of those.

Hmm seems the cheapest Fiat Panda 1.1 Active Eco Euro 4 5dr is still £6868.

Saw this the other day.

Looking for a 2nd car for my girlfriend, but she doesn't like the look of this, instead we are looking at brand new KA's. For under £6k that is going to be some cheap motoring for a few years.

I think I would rather chop off my testicles with a rusty bread knife than drive either. You are right though 6k for a bran new motor aint all that bad.

Haven't noticed many Ka's around, probably around 3, including the one in Quantum of Solace :D

I saw a new KA the other day. It’s like a mini fiesta (if that’s possible). The one I saw had optional racing stripes!

LOL! They don't seem to be popular anymore. Gone downhill?

The current entry level clio costs £10,595! :o.

Dunno the one I saw was in this spectacular colour combo

I mean look at it... what a mechanical masterpeice :D

I thought they were pretty commmon...we have 3 down our street!

Going to have a look into these again for the gf...when you think about it you should be able to run this for 3 years at a cost of 2 year tax at £40.

Not sure on re-sale values though, wonder what it would be worth in 4 - 5 years time? But taking depreciation into consideration you could probabally run this for 3 years for under £1k a year.

hmm the base ka starts at £8,545.00 before any options... clearly racing stripes and some alloys will put this in the 10k bracket.

Edit: The gran prix version, the lovely one above with racing stripe comes in at £11,045.00 add a 14" spare, bluetooth cd radio, reverse parking sensors and your at £13.5k.

That's the great thing about cheap cars, depreciation isn't much of a worry :)

Well that's a big no! Still nothing can match the 95% Japanese Peugeot 107 in price (and ugliness!) :D

hmm the hyundai i10 seems to be a cracking deal for the price. For £8,195 you get all the options on the "Gran Prix" edition ka (bar racing stripes). Not sure on the residuals but it has a healthy spec:

Air conditioning
Electric front windows
Front and front side airbags
Central locking
Stereo RDS radio/CD player with MP3 compatibility
USB and Aux connections
Eco Drive Indicator
Rear ISOfix child seat anchorage
Height adjustable steering column
14" Steel wheels
Body coloured side mouldings

I had a 107 via the "Hire Car Lottery" for a weekend in Northern Ireland last September.

Wasn't best impressed at the hire desk but after the weekend, I have to say it was quite a fun thing to drive. Yes, the "boot" is tiny, nearly pointless. We had two cases which flew as hand luggage with EasyJet and one of them filled the boot.

It took a bit of winding up on the Motorway but could keep 70 quite happily. Making progress cross country becomes a lesson in reading the road and keeping valuable momentum. Slower drivers could be dispatched with some careful planning.

I probably wouldn't want to do my typical 20k+ miles a year in it, but for short distances and the odd longer jaunt, it's pretty decent at sub £6k in my book.
