Fountain Pens?

I used a Bic when I used to use ballpoints, best ones IMO.

Out of interest, what do you think of this?

Not much... It's writing, reasonably clear but a bit thrilly. Either way the style can be done with a ballpoint just as easily if that's what you're aiming at?

Personally I think writing 99% of the time should be clear and neat so it's easy to read. If you want to get into calligraphy to do the front of a card that's fine but don't expect me to be happy if you expect me to read it.

I used to use those cheap Parker fountain pens in primary and secondary school. The Jotters and Vectors etc.

I don't need to write regularly these days so I just use any pen within reach when I do need to write.

Haven't used one in about 3/4 years. When I did I couldn't use the thin ones though because I have quite large hands and they aren't comfortable enough. I used the fat parker one you find/found in whsmiths.

I find fountain pens more comfortable, but I'm happy using either fountain or biro for everyday writing.

My writing's pretty terrible though so I tend to use fountain if I want it to be presentable :p

Ha, odd I should see this, I went to buy some ink today. I write with an olde worlde Parker, no idea of the model; but yep, I don't feel comfortable writing without it now. It's got a sexy short nib, and the body of the pen isn't very long so it fits really nicely above the hand. All hail the fountain pen!.

A little bit off topic but a nice little story all to do with fountain pens -

In 1995 my mate came and confessed to a hobby he had which was collecting fountain pens however the 'balloons' were very expensive and he wanted to know if there were cheaper alternatives.
He asked my to go on the internet and look so the first thing I did was log into Usenet and search for any group to do with pens and found alt.collecting.pens-pencils
I posted the question and within 24 hours I had 12 responses from all around the world but 2 from England where he ended up doing business.
That was the day I knew the internet was powerful - go fountain pens.

Post a picture of it, let's see if we can guess what model it is.

Oh sorry, it's not an antique or of any value. When I say olde worlde it might be 15-20 years old?, I have no idea, it's value is int he fact that it feels perfect in my hand. I'm going to post a pic because I've looked for an identical one in the past, to purchase. No joy.. If I at least knew the model lol, would really help (I've chewed this one to hell, and generally abused it, was with me through secondary school).

I have a Parker Sonnet (no pics)and a 1930s Parker Duofold which was given to me by my nan and subsequently restored by me:

Nice, but the nib is a bit fine.

Only used them in school but I always used to smear the ink all over the page with my hand! No matter how hard I tried not to it would always happen! RAGE!
