After all the doom and gloom about CrossFireX not being easy to set up and what not I was a bit worried about doing an AMD dual card set up after some of the comments heard here.

Anyway I only had to put the cards in their slots, I installed the 11.4 WHQL Catalysts drivers, the latest CAP Profiles and I am now enjoying of close to 100% usage in both cards and superb framerates.

Happy days :)

Ive never had a problem with xfire or sli for that matter and been using dual cards since voodoo 2 i just do same as you fit the cards install drivers and go.

Thank you for proving a point I've been trying to make for some time now. :D All the issues you hear about multi-GPU setups are pretty much a thing of the past and often a case of user mistakes.

Not fantastically happy with my 5870 crossfire atm. Brink doesn't support it, and in OpFlash Dragon Rising, I can't select any resolution above 1280x1024 if crossfire is enabled.
Works well in other games though :).

I don't play new games anyway as they cost a fortune to buy for then to find them for a tenner a month down the line.

Brink has got a few problems I read in Rage3D and Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising is a fairly new game as well.

Lol...yeh, but most people do play new games :p.

Dragon Rising was released in 2009. ATI released a hotfix for brink which improves single card performance, but no crossfire support until 11.6 (june?).

I'm sure Brink will be supported in the next CAP, which should make some difference even without a driver update as the game is at least recognised by the driver in 11.5a.

Have to agree! I had a bit of bother with my 5870's (albeit they were different revs) returned one for a refund, selling other one at auction! Got a couple of ASUS 6950's on Monday, created my own BIOS using RBE (clocks 810/1250 GPU voltage 1.125V) Used SmartDoctor to unlock CCC limits, cards are now running very stable at 900/1375 running Catalyst 11.5 and latest Crossfire profiles. Great performance, got 2407 points on Heaven 2.5 and hit 10008 points in 3DMark 11. Great gaming performance too!
Jonnygrunge.

lol...I'm the same way. Cheap...I mean wise and patient...******** we are.

I remember years ago I wouldn't hesitate to drop $60 time after time for a console (like Genesis) game, but today wouldn't think of it.

Must fess up though, I actually did buy COD MW2 on launch day, but felt like a fool for doing so...lol

Only problem I've had with CF was death of some old games (notably MDK, which I recently re-purchased for nostalgia value). Oh, and AVP didn't much like CF either, but that's just one game.

Running 2 5850s with 11.5b catalyst drivers.

Witcher 2 eveything maxed out except uber sampling at 1080p res, 70 fps outdoors and over 120 fps indoors on average.

Heaven 2.5 returns 1490 score.

A lot of driver issues but those are inherent with Ati but when they work, they work nicely.
